Ohio State's John Bryant wins Heisman after leading Buckeyes to undefeated season
Jessica West -- SI.com

Ohio State redshirt senior quarterback John Bryant won the 2028 Heisman Trophy on Saturday night in New York City.

Bryant beat out fellow quarterbacks J.J. Crowell (North Carolina), Anthony Reid (Florida) and Benjamin Henry (Stanford) for the title after throwing 31 touchdowns and rushing for thirteen more in his third season as the quarterback for the Buckeyes.

Bryant's six touchdown performance in the Big Ten championship game likely pushed him over the edge as he accounted for six total touchdowns to punch Ohio State's ticket to the BCS National Championship Game where they will face off against Henry and the Stanford Cardinals.

Francois: All three quarterbacks expected to play in Sugar Bowl
Anthony Washington -- The Tampa Bay Chronicles

In his first press availability since the team's conference championship victory over Ole Miss where redshirt senior quarterback was benched in favor of redshirt freshman Antonio Whitehead, USF head coach Malcolm Francois Sr. was candid with the media when asked who will start in the Allstate Sugar Bowl vs. Texas.

"I think we'll probably play all three," said Francois Sr, referencing to Jackson, Whitehead and JUCO transfer George Mobley who has yet to play this season.

Jackson has thrown 21 interceptions to his 28 touchdowns while Whitehead has only seen limited action this season with 38 pass attempts, completing 29 of them for 283 yards and three touchdowns. The noticeable difference in Whitehead's performance compared to Jackson was his decisiveness and how quick the ball got out of his hands.

Francois also confirmed that running back Dion Rogers will play in the bowl game after rumors circulated that the redshirt sophomore had decided on declaring for the draft already and would skip the bowl game.

Both coordinators Justin Wilcox and Calvin Magee spoke to the media and Wilcox turned down all questions in relation to other job opportunities. Wilcox has been linked to openings at Cal, Maryland, Marshall, Hawaii and Indiana. After leading the Bulls to the nation's second ranked scoring defense, it seem almost inevitable that Wilcox will end up with a head coaching gig.

Former USF WR Andrew Rivas commits to Florida State
Cooper Byrd -- Dynasty Sports Staff Writer

For the second year in a row, a former highly touted recruit from USF is going across the aisle to a rival.

Former five-star recruit and USF wide receiver Andrew Rivas announced on social media that he will play out his final season of college eligibility at Florida State. A Texas native, Rivas had also been linked to Arkansas due to his connection with former USF offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee and Syracuse as Walt Wells is the head coach there and had initially recruited Rivas to USF.

For the Seminoles, it's a much needed addition as they are losing four senior receivers to graduate this spring and for Rivas, it's an opportunity to be a full-time starter in Tallahassee, something that never happened for him while at USF.

Harper Has The Bulls Celebrating a 45-21 Allstate Sugar Bowl Victory Over Texas
George Mobley was all but out of football just fifteen months ago when his former high school coaches convinced him to enroll at Garden City Community College. Fifteen months later, he spent his New Years Eve lighting up the Texas secondary.

Mobley threw for 233 yards and two touchdowns in just a quarter and a half of action in USF's 45-21 win over the Longhorns on Sunday night.

The third quarterback to enter the game, Mobley scored touchdowns on both of his drives in the second half as USF rotated Jay Jackson, Antonio Whitehead and Mobley at quarterback with each getting a series before Mobley got two to end the half.

He was on the field for the first series of the second half before Whitehead and Jackson closed out the second half but by then, the game had already been decided. Whitehead threw for 166 yards and a touchdown although his late pick six helped Texas make the score more respectable. Jackson played the least out of the trio in what was his final game.

Another Bull that suited up for the last time was James Harper who went off for 222 yards and a touchdown.

Ingram latest USF receiver to leave program; reunites with Lashlee at the University of Arkansas
Johnny Murray -- The Tampa Bay Times Sports Columnist

Any notion that tampering doesn't occur in college football is futile at this point. Redshirt sophomore receiver Jimmy Ingram announced on Instagram that he'd be leaving the University of South Florida and going back to his home state of Arkansas to join the Razorbacks program.

Ingram had not entering his name into the transfer portal prior to his announcement as is the norm for players exiting a program, serving as a buffer and a tool for them to help decide their next university. For Ingram, it seems that his decision had already been made and it's easy to see why.

Former USF offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee is the head coach of the Razorbacks and its safe to assume that the lines of communication might have been open for Ingram and/or Lashlee to express interest in the former four-star recruit coming back home.

In two seasons, Ingram caught 26 passes for 359 yards as the team's backup slot receiver. He lost some snaps this season to converted defensive back Jeremiah McCullough who finished his first season at receiver with nineteen catches while Ingram had sixteen.

Ingram is the second receiver to leave the program in the last six weeks, joining Andrew Rivas who is now at Florida State. The expectations are that junior receiver Bobby Arnold will also be leaving the program as he has recently entered his name in the transfer portal. Arnold has 16 career catches in three seasons at USF. If Arnold does transfer, it would leave the Bulls with just five scholarship receivers for next season after having nine this year.

South Florida extends football head coach Malcolm Francois Sr. through 2033
Anthony Washington -- The Tampa Bay Chronicles

USF head coach Malcolm Francois Sr. and the university have agreed on a five-year extension that would extend the coaches current contract through 2033 and keep him as the nation's top earning head coach.

Francois and the Bulls had agreed to a six-year extension back in 2025 which made him the nation's top earning coach with a yearly salary of $9.5 million. The details of Francois' new extensions haven't been made public but its been reported to be in the $11 million range.

With another twelve win season in 2028, Francois now has ten twelve win seasons in his sixteen seasons at USF. Francois' 82 percent winning percentage is the highest in school history and highest for a Division I coach since Tom Osborne retired in 1997.

USF DC Wilcox hired to be next coach at California
Johnny Murray -- The Tampa Bay Times Sports Columnist

The University of California has announced the hiring of USF defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox as their next head coach following the firing of Derek Mason.

Wilcox spent two seasons as USF's defensive coordinator, leading the Bulls to the nation's top scoring defense last season, a first in program history. Wilcox will look to turn around a Cal program that hasn't won the conference since 2006 and just two 9-win seasons in the last sixteen years.

The top name to watch as potential replacements for Wilcox is recently fired Indiana head coach Pat Fitzgerald and Cincinnati's Glenn Spencer. Spencer has been a rumored candidate for several G5 head coaching jobs after coaching the Bearcats to a top-fifteen defense.
