Ducks defense shows up but the offense doesn't in 23-9 loss to Bulls
When the Champions Division was created, it was done so with the idea in mind that undefeated teams would be a thing of the past as the gauntlet of a schedule would make it virtually impossible for a team to go through it undeterred and unblemished.
The University of South Florida, in the first two seasons of the Champions Division, has now done it twice.
Oregon's bottom ranked defense put up a fight, limiting the Bulls to just two touchdowns but their offense, led by Heisman hopeful Edward Downing, failed to show up as USF handily took care of the Ducks 23-9 on Saturday to punch their ticket into the College Football Playoffs as the top seed and win the Champions Division.
Oregon had some success offensively in the first half, particularly in the ground game but in two red zone trips, they were force to settle for a field goal while USF overcame an early Jared Chavis interception to get into the endzone on a William Sapp touchdown run.
They overcame another turnover from Chavis, this time a fumble, to score once more in the third quarter on a sweep play to receiver Maurice Bennett. With a two possession lead in hand, USF's defense was able to feast and tee of on Downing who completed just ten passes for 85 yards. He was also held to negative yardage on the ground as he was sacked four times.

Penn State's Bryan Myers ends 65-year drought for Nittany Lions
Jessica West -- SI.com
Despite being one of college football's premier programs, Penn State has only had one Heisman winner in its history, dating back to 1973 when John Cappelletti took home the coveted trophy. For the first time in 65 years, the Heisman belongs to College Station as Bryan Myers' beat out Purdue's Adam Petty and Ole Miss' T.J. Little for the award.
It was an unreal season for the New York native who threw for 3,820 yards and 48 touchdowns to just three interceptions with two of them coming in the loss to USF. Myers will have a chance to avenge that loss in the College Football Playoffs should both the Nittany Lions and the Bulls, the top two seeds, find themselves in the championship game.
Myers also took home the Maxwell, Walter Camp and O'Brien.
