#7 MIA U (14-1, 9-0) | 0 | 13 | 10 | 15 || 38
#3 USF (12-2, 7-2) | 7 | 3 | 21 | 14 || 45

USF outlasts RedHawks in a classic shootout to advance to College Football Playoffs Championship Game
The last time USF played Miami University, a redshirt junior by the name of Heath Harding rushed for 339 yards and four touchdowns to beat the Bulls 48-41 to win the Idaho Potato Bowl back in 2016.

A member of that USF team was a true freshman receiver named Franklin Sapp who caught eight passes for 162 yards. Over two decades later, Sapp's son, William, avenged his father's loss, catching two touchdown passes in the second half to outpace the RedHawks and advance to the College Football Playoffs Championship Game with USF's 45-38 victory in the desert on Saturday.

Sapp got behind Miami's defense on back to back drives for touchdowns of sixty and eighty-five yards to spark USF's offensive revival in the second half after scoring just ten points and trailing the RedHawks. The Bulls would extend their lead to two possessions with touchdowns by Eric Valentine and Jeff Rutledge in back to back drives to make it 38-23 with 7:44 remaining.

Heisman finalist Aaron Meyer, who had been kept in check all game, had his best play of the day to answer back, breaking several tackles during his 54-yard run to put the ball on the goal line. He then handed it off Stephen Mason for his third touchdown of the game. Mason did his best Harding impression, rushing for 242 yards and carrying the bulk of the RedHawks offense while Meyer was finding his groove.

The jubilation for Miami fans was short lived as Jet Millines drove USF's offense right down the field, scoring on a 27-yard connection with Carl Graham for his fourth passing touchdown of the night. Millines also threw for a career high 556 yards.

The night seemed over for Miami with Meyers' interception to K.J. Waters on the ensuing possession only for Millines to throw an interception on the very next play. With newfound life, Mason found the endzone once more to cut into USF's lead.

A dropped pass by Sapp on third down would allow the RedHawks another chance with less than two minutes remaining to tie the game with a touchdown but they promptly went four and out.

USF offensive coordinator DeMarcus Bennett to interview with LSU, Nebraska
Johnny Murray -- The Tampa Bay Times Sports Columnist

USF offensive coordinator DeMarcus Bennett is expected to take some time this week to interview with LSU and Nebraska for their head coaching job.

Bennett and the Bulls are preparing for their national championship game against Ohio State with the team set to travel on Wednesday. Bennett won't be traveling with the team and will instead fly to Baton Rouge and then Lincoln on the same day before rejoining the team. Bennett has already met virtually with key decision makers at both LSU and Nebraska as they look to make a decision soon.

Bennett could be impacted by Roger McCoy's decision at UCF as McCoy, following his ten-win season with the Knights in his first season, has been linked as a potential replacement for Kevin Sherrer at Alabama or Jeremy Pruitt at Florida State should the veteran head coaches step down and retire. If the UCF job was to become available, Bennett has been identified by several sources around both USF and UCF's program as a top candidate.

Arkansas has also requested permission for an in-person interview with Bennett but its not expected to take place until after the season.

they just kept running it to the right side and i had no answers. Ohio State has damn near 3 1,000-yard rushers but a weaker oline, we shall see. we did well against them last season but struggled on offense: viewtopic.php?p=40975#p40975
