New Contender Emerges.
Before Somerset loaded the bus to head back home, Jozif's coach grabbed him & introduced him to a scout in the stands.
"Jozif, it's a pleasure. I'm here representing the Ohio State University.. We heard about a kid in Kentucky that can catch anything you throw up.. & I have to say, you can really play!" The scout told Jo.
"Oh fuck me! Ohio State?!" Jozif said with excitement as he shook the scouts hand.
"Watch your mouth, Jo." Somerset's head coach, Ronnie Lewis, told his star player.
"That's right. We've got a game tomorrow in Purdue & I know you're heading home so I'll be brief."
Jozif nodded his head in agreement.
"We want you to have this.." He said as he handed Jo a scouting package that contained a booklet about Ohio State's football program as well as two t shirts.
"I'm extremely impressed with your ability to play the receiver position.. A school like Ohio State will without a doubt unlock all of that potential inside you.."
Somerset's coach put his arm around Jozif in support of the young man from Croydon.
"Look, I'm not here to offer you a scholarship yet, but we wanted to make contact with you & eventually invite you to Columbus to tour the school, the facilities, & that sort of thing."
Speechless, J muttered out, "I'd love to!"
"Great! Thank you for your time, Jozif.. & thank you, coach. We'll be in contact." The scout said as he shook hands with both of them & turned around to the parking lot.
"Blimey, coach. Ohio State? I swear down, that was peak!"
"I'm proud of you, Jozif. Let's get back home, talk with your Dad about it, & we'll go from there. Congratulations, son."
