Jerome Singleton promoted to Assistant Head Coach as he turns down offers from Hawai'i, New Mexico State and UMass
Larry Flag -- Dynasty Sports Staff Writer
South Alabama defensive coordinator Jerome Singleton will be returning to South Alabama with a promotion (and likely raise) as he was promoted to Assistant Head Coach in addition to his defensive coordinator responsibility.
Singleton is expected to have a larger role in recruiting and roster management as well as the overall guidance of the program according to new head coach Jaren Bloom who is replacing Major Applewhite who was hired at North Carolina to be their new offensive coordinator under Mike Gundy.
Singleton was interviewed by Hawai'i, Utah State, UMass and New Mexico State for head coaching jobs and was considered a favorite for several of them before pulling his name from consideration and returning to South Alabama with a new title.

Jaguars attack transfer portal to reload on defense, sign two high school four-stars on National Signing Day
Doug Dunning -- 247 Sports South Alabama Insider
The University of South Alabama had a very eventful National Signing Day, landing two commitments from four-stars with linebacker Coco Generals and defensive tackle George Diggs signing with the Jaguars.
Generals, the 9th ranked inside linebacker in the 2025 recruiting class, picked the Jaguars over Wisconsin and cited defensive coordinator Jerome Singleton as a reason why he chose the Jaguars.
"I just can see myself playing in [Singleton] defense and making plays," Generals told CBS Sports after his announcement, "We just really connected from the first time he reached out to me and I'm excited to get down there."
Listed at five-foot-eleven and 223 pounds, Generals is an aggressive, downhill inside linebacker that is quick footed enough to be able to drop into coverage. He won't get on campus until the summer but he still projects to be a potential day-one contributor for the Jaguars and potentially a starter by the end of the season.
Diggs fills a need for the Jaguars at nose tackle as they are losing starter Maurice Strong Jr. to graduation who finished the year with nineteen tackles for loss. R.J. Moss Jr. figures to be Strong's replacement in the starting lineup but Diggs allows the Jags to feature two defensive tackles in their sub-packages as they often did last year with Strong and Moss.
The Jaguars also landed transfer defensive tackles Quaylen Hill and Quinzavaious Warren along with two transfer corners in Jayden Lewis and William Hardrick.

what deal breakers did you lose players on? did you try to convince them to stay?
pro potential on defense and playing style on offense. No, I could not as their chance of being persuaded was set to None. in previous tests I've done, it's typically medium or at least low. first time i've seen it be set to none
