Former Wisconsin target Coco Generals to transfer from South Alabama
Larry Flagg -- Dynasty Sports Staff Writer

The Sun Belt's leading tackler Coco Generals has entered the transfer portal, becoming the third South Alabama defender to do so since the transfer window opened joining sophomore safety Jonathan Gatson and cornerback Jayden Lewis.

Generals, who is entering his third year, led the Sun Belt with 100 tackles and is from Brookfield, Wisconsin and if that's not enough of a tie in with the Badgers, Generals recorded 18 tackles for loss as a freshman under current Wisconsin defensive coordinator Jerome Singleton, who was heavily involved in Generals' recruitment to Mobile.

The Badgers are expected to be active in the transfer market after losing four starters on defense to graduation and the draft in linebacker Sebastian Cheeks, defensive end Curt Neal, cornerback Jonas Duclona and safety Jamison Patton.

'Minnesota Boys' among visitors during busy recruiting weekend for the Badgers as they explore portal options

Two of the top three ranked players in the transfer portal were in Madison, Wisconsin this past weekend with Kentucky's Terhyon Nichols and Minnesota's Jaxon Howard taking their official visit with the Badgers.

Nichols and Howard are the second and third ranked players in the portal according to 247 Sports, behind Marshall's Davion Kershaw. Howard is one of three former Minnesota players that Wisconsin hosted along with offensive linemen Reese Tripp and Greg Johnson who have the potential to be instant contributors up front for the offense.

The Badgers have been very busy in the portal with Purdue safety Luke Williams also visiting along with Miami of Ohio safety Shamir Dodson. The Badgers are hosting more transfer portal targets next weekend in cornerbacks Watts McBride (Iowa State) and R.W. Cobb (Western Michigan) as well as linebacker Coco Generals (South Alabama) and tight end Brody Kosin (Indiana).

Wisconsin currently holds the fourteen ranked recruiting class in the nation when it comes to high school recruiting with seventeen signees, eleven of which were blue chips (four star or higher).

Wisconsin lands top eleven class with strong portal additions

In their first full cycle in charge of talent acquisition, Charles Huff and Jerome Singleton proved to be a potent combination as the Badgers landed a top sixteen high school recruiting class and the fourth best transfer class in the country.

Wisconsin was able to secure their entire high school class in the early signing period, led by five-stars J.D. Barksdale and Jamerson Knowles. On the transfer market, the Badgers did strike out on Jaxon Howard, one of their top targets, as he committed to Nebraska but they were able to land plenty of talent in the portal in safeties Terhyon Nichols and Luke Williams as well as adding some depth to the cornerback room in Watts McBride and R.W. Cobb.

Singleton reunited with Sun Belt tackling leader Coco Generals, who picked South Alabama over Wisconsin coming out of high school to play for Singleton when he was the Jaguars defensive coordinator. Singleton joins a crowded linebacker room with plenty of returning talent in Landon Gauthier, Kirk Kennedy, Christian Alliegro, Roddy Orr as well as Thomas Heiberger who is making the return to the position after a brief stint at safety.
