Nevada's recruiting identity starting to take shape as Jerome Singleton's handprint is being felt
Logan Finau -- Nevada247 Football Writer

In the past two weeks, the University of Oregon has landed two commitments from four-star offensive tackle Austin Flemister and four-star linebacker Alonzo Sneed. What's noteworthy about their commitments, and recruitment, is that Nevada football had hats on the table for two of California's best players, a testament to Jerome Singleton's impact as Nevada's head coach.

While being in second place doesn't win you anything on the recruiting trail, it does show a willingness to fight off the top schools for top talent, something the program hasn't done in the past. The Wolfpack have already landed a four-star in IMG Academy's Larry Palepoi. They're still heavily involved in the recruitment of four-star running back Gerald Whitaker and four-star guard Tobias Gibbs. If they can split those battles, and continue to land talented three-stars like John Kazee who had an offer from Cal, Nevada is well on its way to having the best recruiting class in the conference.

The staff is extremely high on Kazee who is perfect fit to play the five-technique in their 3-3-5 defense with his size at six-foot-five, 273 pounds with production as a pass rusher. With his basketball background, the coaching staff feels like once Kazee is able to focus sole on football, he should take a major step in his development and they view him as a sleeper in the state.

2030 Nevada Recruiting Class

Woods Cross running back Gerald Whittaker spurns Utah, BYU for Coach Singleton and Nevada
Logan Finau -- Nevada247 Football Writer

Four-star running back Gerald Whittaker is not staying home after all, picking Nevada over Utah and BYU to play for the Wolfpack and head coach Jerome Singleton.

"I got a chance to be part of something special from the very beginning," said Whittaker of his surprising decision to play for Nevada, "Coach [Singleton] and [offensive coordinator Brad Cornelsen] sold me on the vision they have for me and I think I can come in right away and be a big piece of what they do next season."

A powerful runner at 225 pounds, Whittaker is a downhill runner who shows great balance as he breaks through tackles with the ability to pop a run at any moment. The Wolfpack's leading rusher, Ryan Tauscher, is set to graduate which should open the door for Whittaker to be an instant impact player for the Wolfpack.

Whittaker is the latest member of Nevada's recruiting class, which currently ranked twelfth in the country with three four-stars and eight three-stars. He joins recently committed guard Tobias Bibbs, another four-star, who picked Nevada over the likes of Oregon, Washington State and USC. By comparison, Nevada signed six three-stars all of last year. As it stands today, no other MWC program has signed a four-star this cycle.

I actually like him but he's just incredibly inaccurate lmao i've always changed the sliders so that INT is at 50 instead of 15 so pretty much any mistake/misfire is an automatic pick
