Nevada signs top-25 class at Early Signing Day with potential QB of the future in Jalen Ramesh
Logan Finau -- Nevada247 Football Writer

All twenty members of Nevada's recruiting class signed with the Wolfpack during the Early Signing Period, ensuring that Jerome Singleton and his staff will likely have a top-40 recruiting class when it's all said and done in February as they come in as the 24th ranked class in the country and the top ranked class in the Mountain West.

It's an impressive list of signees for the Wolfpack, led by four-stars defensive tackle Larry Palepoi, running back Gerald Whittaker and guard Tobias Gibbs. With those players as pillars, Nevada was able to close out the recruiting class by adding a pair of cornerbacks in Gabe Mady and Jamerson Turpin, added a versatile defensive back for Singleton's 3-3-5 defense in Jalen Wroten and also got a talented California arm in Jalen Ramesh.

While the new OC has yet to be named, Ramesh fits more in line with what it seems coach Singleton wants in a quarterback as a guy that's able to get the ball to his playmakers, is accurate and athletic enough to make things happen on his own. With three seniors in the quarterback room set to graduate, the path is there for Ramesh to come in and compete for the backup quarterback job right away and with him getting here for the spring, he could challenge returning starter Darian Molinaro as well.

Nevada beat out UCLA and Stanford for Ramesh.

Nevada hires Georgia Southern's Josh Zimmerman to be offensive coordinator
Jeff Longo -- Nevada Sports Net College Football Writer

Former Georgia Southern offensive coordinator Josh Zimmerman is set to be named Nevada's offensive coordinator, completing Jerome Singleton's staff for his second year as head coach of the Wolfpack.

Zimmerman spent one season with the Eagles before being released from his contract along with the rest of the coaching staff. A Troy graduate, Zimmerman crossed paths with Singleton during their stint at the University of Alabama where Zimmerman worked in the recruiting department and Singleton was an analyst.

The Georgia Southern gig was Zimmerman's first opportunity as a play caller after spending eight years with the University of Alabama in a support staff role focusing on player development, recruitment and was eventually promoted to offensive analyst.

During his one year with the Eagles, Zimmerman ran a pro-style offense that averaged 19.5 points per game and was middle of the pack in the Sun Belt in passing and rushing offense.

Could Nevada potentially be in play for Wisconsin's Finau Wooleyhand?
Larry Flagg -- Dynasty Sports Staff Writer

One of the players that Nevada head coach Jerome Singleton recruited to the University of Wisconsin, defensive end Finau Wooleyhand, has entered the transfer portal, opening the door for a potential reunion out west.

Wooleyhand, who is entering his final year of eligibility, recorded 42 tackles along with eight tackles for loss and four sacks in his first season as a starter for the Badgers this past year. While Wooleyhand wasn't a key player while Singleton was the defensive coordinator for the Badgers, Singleton was involved in his recruitment.

The Wolfpack figure to be active in the transfer portal as Singleton continues to try to overhaul the rostter.

Nevada lands the country's top transfer portal recruiting class as roster overhaul continues
Logan Finau -- Nevada247 Football Writer

Jerome Singleton came into Reno with the reputation of being one of the nation's top defensive minds and a restless and effective recruiter. In one season, he's turned the Wolfpack into the MWC's top ranked defense and after signing a top-32 high school recruiting class, Singleton and Co. have signed the nation's top transfer class with nine transfers, led by BYU offensive lineman Alani Latu.

Nevada was loosely involved in the recruitment of the top ranked transfer player, Finau Wooleyhand, but he signed with Miami. Wooleyhand was a defensive end that played under Singleton at Wisconsin before entering the transfer portal.

The Wolfpack were able to raid the Cougars roster, landing five players from BYU's seven win team that finished fifth in the Big 12. Of the five players, three are from California and another is from the state of Nevada.

"Nevada is a sleeper school that could really start to emerge as a G6 powerhouse," said Josh Pate of 247 Sports, "If you're a kid from California and you're not quite Power 4 level, you used to go to Oregon State, Washington State, BYU. With what coach [Jerome] Singleton has building in Reno, why not come to Nevada instead of going out there to BYU where it will be a culture shift? We know they're going to play defense at a high level, it's going to be a tough program and once they get the offense going, this has big potential."

The Wolfpack also added to their high school class, signing another quarterback in Los Angeles' James Feliz and receiver Sidney Torrence out of Murrieta which brings the class to twelve players from the state of California, which is where Singleton is from.
