Devin Vassell likely to miss the rest of the season with torn right MCL
The San Antonio Spurs will be without one of their top players for the rest of the regular season and potentially the playoffs with shooting guard Devin Vassell scheduled to have surgery on his right knee to repair a torn MCL he suffered against the Washington Wizards.

Vassell was off to a hot start in that game, scoring five points in the first seven minutes before leaving the game and not returning. The sixth-year pro out of Florida State had seen a dip in his scoring in the month of February, averaging just 9.1 points per game in the midst of a shooting slump (42% from the field) so the fast start against Washington was a promising sign that the tide might have been shifting, only for Vassell to now be out for at least six weeks.

Rookie Tre Johnson replaced Vassell in the starting lineup for the very next game against Memphis but it was Stephon Castle who saw an elevated role, scoring twenty eight points in thirty-five minutes and was the primary ball handler, outside of Fox, on the starting unit. Castle has been in and out of the starting rotation, rotating with Johnson, but both players figure to be prominent involved following the injury to Vassell, whose efficiency numbers did improve this season while his scoring dip, due to the addition of De'Aaron Fox, Zion Williamson and Johnson.

i am a tad bit concern about the lack of offensive firepower if Vassell is gone. Those 12-15 points he brings consistently with the occasional 20-piece could be the difference between a deep playoff run and an early exit
