Victor Wembanyama signs four year, $162.76 million extension with San Antonio
In a move that surprised no one, the San Antonio Spurs have signed Victor Wembanyama to a four-year, $162.76 million extension that will keep Wembanyama in San Antonio through 2030, extending his current rookie deal which was set to expire in 2026.

Wembenyama is the latest player from his rookie class to sign an extension with the Thompson twins signing four-year extensions worth $150.75 and $106.56 million with Detroit and Houston respectively. Brandon Miller and Scoot Henderson, selected second and third after Wembanyama, are the only players drafted in the top five that have yet to extend with their teams. Portland fired head coach Chauncey Billups last month in what has been a breakout season for Henderson, who struggled in his first year in the league.

For San Antonio, it was a no brainer to extend Wembanyama who leads the league in rebounding and blocks and is sixteenth in points. Wembanyama's scoring has dipped slightly with the addition of stars De'Aaron Fox and Zion Williamson, who have taken on some of the scoring workload. Wembanyama remains one of the favorites to win Defensive Player of the Year, which he won last year, and is in the running to win his first MVP trophy after leading San Antonio to 58 wins so far this season.
