Death, taxes and the New England Patriots double-dipping by scoring before the end of the first half and opening the second half with points to put opponents away.
New England did their infamous double-dip to extend a tie game into a fourteen-point lead and then riding their defense to a 31-17 win over the New York Jets on Saturday.
The Jets defense, who had struggled coming into the game, had held New England scoreless for most of the first quarter and with two minutes left in the first half, the Jets had a 10-7 lead following Cody Parkey's field goal. And then Tom Brady found Josh Gordon in the endzone with zero seconds left on the clock to end the half and answered the second half with a seven-minute drive that seemed to be the beginning of the end for the Jets.
Sony Michel found the endzone to start the second half along with his first quarter touchdown as he rushed for 143 yards. He complemented the passing attack very well as Brady threw for 324 yards and two touchdowns, including one to Antonio Brown that marked his first touchdown as a Patriot.
Brown's former teammate in Pittsburgh, Jets running back Le'Veon Bell, had just eight carries for 36 yards as the Jets went away from the running game. He did catch seven passes for 38 yards and a touchdown.
The Jets leading receiver was a former Patriot in Demaryius Thomas, playing for his fourth team in a calendar year. Thomas had seven catches for 82 yards but with two drops, including two on third-down.
