New England's defense has been overlooked in the team's 4-0 start to the season despite them boasting the number one scoring defense.
With their offense struggling to keep the ball in their hands, the defense decided to step up and show out, carrying the load until Tom Brady and the rest of the Patriots found their groove in the 40-14 win over the Washington Redskins on Sunday.
Washington held a frustrated Brady-led Patriots offense to just thirteen points in the first half and just 19 after three quarters. The Redskins defense intercepted Brady twice and caused three fumbles, two of them coming in the redzone.
The Redskins defense was unable to keep it up, not when Case Keenum started throwing four of his five interceptions in the fourth quarter which led to 21 unanswered points by New England.
Keenum boasted a 28.9 passer rating, completing just 45 percent of his 35 passes for 158 yards and five interceptions with one touchdown.
Brady ended the day 32 of 42 for 421 yards and five touchdowns with two interceptions. It was somehow perhaps his worst performance of the year and Brady was visibily frustrated throughout the game on the sidelines.
Brady was sacked five times.
Washington was able to slow down New England's rushing attack, ranked second in the league coming into today, holding Sony Michel to ten yards on eight carries.
