Sharks set sights on Stanley Cup Championship..

After early exit, San Jose is ready to bounce back in a loaded Western Conference....

September 14, 2018..

SAN JOSE- The 2017-2018 NHL Season saw a change in the landscape when the Expansion Vegas Golden Knights took the League by storm. Vegas dominated everybody in their inaugural Season and made a run to the Stanley Cup Finals knocking out the Los Angeles Kings in a clean 4 Game sweep. In the Second Round Vegas breezed by San Jose in Six Games to make the Western Conference Finals where they grounded the Winnipeg Jets in Five Games. Vegas was dominated in the Stanley Cup Finals by the red hot Washington Capitals.

For the San Jose Sharks, 2018-2019 will be a Season of redemption and a tough one at that. Throughout the years the Western Conference has been stacked from top to bottom guaranteeing any Franchise to reach the top of the Divisions to be in a dogfight from start to finish.

The 2015-2016 Sharks had their own Cinderella Story under new Head Coach Peter DeBoer as they embarked on a improbable Playoff Run that saw the Sharks reach the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time in Franchise History. San Jose got past their hated Rivals, the Los Angeles Kings in 5 Games erasing the painful memory of blowing a 3-0 Series lead in 2014. In the Second Round the Sharks outlasted the Nashville Predators in 7 before clinching their first ever trip to the Finals after a Game Six victory at home over the St. Louis Blues.

But the "Fairy Tale" Ending wasn't mean to be as the clock struck midnight on the Sharks with a Game 6 loss to Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins.

But what happened next was a nightmare.

The Sharks didn't even make it out of the first Round of the Playoffs after being blown off the Ice in Six Games by the younger faster Edmonton Oilers led by arguably the best Player in the league today, Connor McDavid.

The loss to the Oilers in the First Round showed that the San Jose Sharks needed some youth and speed of their own. It also didn't help that Edmonton was Coached by Todd McLellan. The man who spent so many years behind the bench in Northern California for the Sharks.

With the League changing in how the Game is played it's obvious that the San Jose Sharks will need to adjust. After being blown off the ice thanks to the speedy Penguins and Oilers, and being manhandled by the Vegas Golden Knights, San Jose is in need of dire change.

But it won't be easy in a heavy loaded Western Conference. Pacific Division Rivals, Los Angeles, Anaheim have been making Playoff runs of their own. Vegas is clearly the Team to beat in the Western. Arizona Coyotes have proven to play spoiler, and Canadian Teams like Edmonton and Calgary have also made some noise.

Then in the Central Division we can't forget about the Chicago Blackhawks who had a small Dynasty in the beginning of the 2010's winning 3 Stanley Cups. The Minnesota Wild should be a solid foe for anyone in the Playoffs. Colorado, Winnipeg, and Nashville are all very good entering the Season as well.

Aging Veterans like Joe Pavelski, Joe Thornton, and Brent Burns are in the midst of their Careers might have limited time in getting to dance with Lord Stanley. Now with the new Season among us, San Jose will look to set their sights on something that's eluded them since 1991.

A Stanley Cup Championship...

Can Washington repeat?

Hello Hockey Fans! October has arrived! Which means the puck is about to drop on the new NHL Season today! Back on June 7, the Washington Capitals have finally exercised the demons and reached the top of the mountain. Alexander Ovechkin and the Caps have got to hoist Lord Stanley for the first time in Franchise history. All eyes will be on the Nation's Capital this season as the Capitals will try to become the 8th Franchise in history to win back-to-back Stanley Cups. Washington will have a new voice behind the bench this year as former Head Coach Barry Trotz left for Brooklyn to take the Islanders job. Former Washington Assistant Coach Todd Reirden will take over the reigns for the defending Champions. Can anyone dethrone Washington in the East?

Can anyone in the Western Conference dethrone Vegas?

Last Season the expansion Vegas Golden Knights took the NHL by storm racking up 51 wins and a Pacific Division Title in their first year. The Golden Knights stormed their way through the Western Conference Playoffs making a historic run all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals. They lost to the red hot Washington Capitals in 5 games. This season all eyes are on the 2nd year Franchise out of the desert. Can they be dethroned in a heavy Western Conference?

SHARKS use strong Third Period to knock off DUCKS 5-2...

October 3, 2018

San Jose, CA- Tied at 2-2, San Jose used a strong Third Period to beat the Anaheim Ducks on opening night.

Tomas Hertl(1) scored first that gave San Jose(1-0) a 1-0 lead midway through the First Period. Alternate Captain Logan Couture nailed a slapshot past Ducks Goaltender John Gibson for a 2-0 lead early in the Second.

But Anaheim(0-1) wouldn't go quietly. Ducks Rookie Maxime Comtois(1) got the Ducks on board beating Martin Jones to the net. A High Sticking Powerplay gave Anaheim more life as Rickard Rakell(1)

"We had life in the Second Period. Especially after that Power Play Goal. We just fell flat in the Third." Ducks Head Coach Randy Carlyle stated.

San Jose(1-0) took control in the final period and never looked back. Sharks Netminder Martin Jones turned away 16 straight shots.

"He was really our backbone for us in this one." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

In the Third Period, Erik Karlsson(1), Justin Callahan(1), and Joe Thornton(1) Empty netter put the game away. Martin Jones finished with 37 saves. John Gibson had 19.

San Jose(1-0-0) will begin a 5 Game Road Trip when they head to Los Angeles to meet their hated rivals, the L.A Kings on Friday Night.

LOS ANGELES KINGS: Drew Doughty "Fuck San Jose."

10/5/18

The Los Angeles Kings are set to open up their 2018-2019 campaign against a hated rival, the San Jose Sharks.

Kings Defenseman Drew Doughty is known for taking shots at the Sharks over the years as the two clubs have serious history.

"We don't like San Jose. There's bad blood there and I don't like them. That's a Team that I have no respect for. The Players sure. But in terms of rivalries, San Jose is probably our biggest." Doughty stated in an interview.

The LA Kings beat the Sharks in Game 7 back in 2013 in the second round and Los Angeles would become the 4th Team in NHL History to come back from a 3-0 Series defecit.

San Jose humiliated the Kings at series' start, beating them 6-3 and 7-2 before eking out a 4-3 OT victory in Game 3. But the Kings fairly cruised in the remaining games, never winning by less than three and taking Game 7 by a 5-1 count.

Goaltender Jonathan Quick was the difference-maker, allowing two goals over the final three contests. Center Anze Kopitar exploded for four goals and six assists on the series, while playoff reliable Justin Williams also scored four times.

"There's history there between us. We don't like each other it's simple as that. Fuck the Sharks." Doughty added.

San Jose did get a little taste of payback in 2016 however when the Sharks beat the Kings in 5 Games in the first round.

Tonight the Kings host the Sharks in their opener at Staples Center.

San Jose beat Anaheim 5-2 on Wednesday Night.

SHARKS stomp KINGS 6-2 inside Staples Center....

October 5, 2018

Los Angeles, CA- Evander Kane wasted little time in taunting Kings Defenseman Drew Doughty. The Star Defenseman made it clear in an interview how he felt about the Northern California rivals, San Jose Sharks.

"Fuck San Jose." Doughty stated in an interview with theScore.

"Yeah we all saw it." Sharks Forward Evander Kane stated. "He wanted to make it personal, so we made it personal. Suck it Drew."

And personal it was.

The Two hated Pacific Division rivals went for blood. Early in the First Period the Sharks committed Two penalties when Erik Karlsson was called for Hooking and Captain Joe Pavelski got called for interference.

This gave Los Angeles(0-1) a 5 on 3 Man advantage.

But San Jose(2-0) refused to back down. Rookie James Carr(1) snuck behind Quick for a goal that got the Fins on the board. Drew Doughty scored on the Power Play that gave the Kings their first goal of the year and tied it up at 1-1.

Los Angeles was 1/2 on the Man Advantage.

"Getting that first Goal on the Power Play gave us some confidence I thought. San Jose is a fast-paced Team." Kings Head Coach John Stevens said.

"Even down 5 on 3, I thought we fought hard and did a good job." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

The Kings took a 2-1 lead in the Second Period when Alex Iafello scored. Joe Pavelski tied it back up.

But just like against Anaheim, San Jose(2-0) used a strong Third Period to pull away for good. Tyler Adams(1), Logan Couture(2), JJ Hart(1), and Curtis Sawyer(1) all scored. Hart's Empty Netter put the nail in the coffin.

Martin Jones finished with 38 saves. Jonathan Quick had 32 saves allowing 5 Goals. The Sharks(2-0) will head to Brooklyn, New York to meet the Islanders(0-1) on Monday Night.

SHARKS fall flat in 3-1 loss to ISLANDERS on Canadian Thanksgiving..

October 8, 2018

Brooklyn NY- Barry Trotz stood at the podium with a grin.

"Happy Thanksgiving Canada." He said. The New York Islanders(1-2) got their first win of the young campaign. After a 6- victory over the Los Angeles Kings Thursday Night, San Jose(2-1) began a East Coast Road trip.

And they came out sloppy.

Sharks Rookie Curtis Sawyer(2) got the Fins on the board in the first 90 seconds for a 1-0 lead. Then it all went downhill after that.

"No idea what happened. It's like we just kind of fell flat after that first goal." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

San Jose(2-1) finished the First Period with just 7 Shots on Goal. A low for a Team who scored 11 Goals against the Ducks and Kings. The Sharks held New York out of the net the entire Second Period. But it was all Netminder Martin Jones standing on his head doing what he can to help the Sharks.

By the end of the Second, Jones turned away 28 straight shots. The Sharks continued to fall flat with just 16 Shots on Goal and holding onto a 1-0 lead.

"Joner did what he could for us. We let him down tonight honestly. We need to be better." Sharks Captain Joe Pavelski said.

8 Minutes into the Third Period, Ryan Pulock(1) scored to tie the Game. By this point, Martin Jones had 34 saves. Jordan Eberle(1) broke the tie. In the final 33 seconds, Justin Callahan was called for Interference awarding New York(1-2) a Power Play. Matthew Barzal(1) scored just 13 seconds in for the 3-1 win. Thomas Greiss finished with 23 saves.

Martin Jones had 39 saves.

San Jose(2-1) heads to Philly tomorrow to meet the Philadelphia Flyers(2-0).
