How long until it comes out that the coach wanted the athletics department to hire white women and light skinned women to be hostesses on the back of this bad season?

Douglas Intercepted 8 Times as Bulls End Wolverines Championship Hopes
Any hope that USF's kryptonite was the cold weather were quickly put to rest as the Bulls jumped out to a 20-0 lead over Michigan in frigid Ann Arbor.

Even with a few highlight worthy runs from their senior running back and a crazy end to the first half which resulted in USF intercepting a Hail Mary attempt only to then surrender two points due to a safety, the Bulls had no problem with taking care of Michigan and beating the Wolverines 48-29 on Saturday.

South Florida entered the game with 21 interceptions on the season, tied with Navy for most in the nation. They left with 29, intercepting senior quarterback Terence Douglas a whopping eight times, including four from safety Jake Lott.

Two of Lott's interception came when Michigan was in the redzone, one of the reasons why although Michigan outgained the Bulls 645 to 611 of total yards, they couldn't keep up with Nick Williams and the USF offense.

Williams threw five touchdowns and that was without one of his top receivers in Jason Barbour, who left the game due to concussion protocols in the first drive. Williams is tied for third in the country with 28 touchdowns.

The ultimate viewing guide for Bulls fans as season nears conclusion
Anthony Washington -- The Tampa Bay Chronicles

USF's semester abroad as an Independent as they move from the Big 12 to the SEC has been an unequivocal success, three loses be damned.

The Bulls, with a first-year starting quarterback, are ranked eight in the country with wins over #23 Virginia Tech, #7 Navy and #10 Michigan and their three loses are against teams ranked second and ninth, respectfully, with the lone outlier 'bad loss' being on the road against Miami with their starting quarterback injured.

The Bulls Network has also enjoyed growth and success, posting impressive ratings and viewership numbers due to the Bulls incredibly competitive schedule this season. Outside of N.C. State and San Diego State, all other Bulls home games -- which are broadcasted on Amazon Prime via The Bulls Network -- have been against teams with winning records.

With USF being nomads this year, there will be no conference championship appearance leaving just one more game on the schedule for the Bulls before bowl season. What should Bulls fans be looking for in the last two games?

  • TE Vincent Everett's return
Everett has suited up for the last two games but has not played a down as he is still recovering from a wrist injury that saw him miss every game since the season opener. Everett had an impressive freshman season, catching 52 passes and was slated to take that next step this season. In his absence, Tariq Smith has flourished, besting Everett's freshman numbers. The two tight end duo of Everett and Smith should be fun to watch next season and we could be getting a sneap peak against UCF and in the bowl game.
    -
  • Who replaces the Bermuda Triangle?
USF linebacker Dallas Gross did not play the final two drives of the Michigan game due to what he described as just "nicks and bruises" and he's expected to be full-go against UCF. Gross' absence, however, did provide fans some insight into the future at Mike linebacker. Sophomore Danny Love, a heralded recruit in his own right, has seven tackles on the season and is the favorite to replace Gross at Mike next season. He'll compete with redshirt sophomore Dan Miller come spring.

The Bulls are heavy favorites against UCF and if it is a rout, we could see a few backups get in, including redshirt junior Matt Collins. The coaching staff is extremely high on him and at six-foot-five and 239 pounds, he has the perfect build to replace John Reed but we just haven't seen a ton of football from him and a lot of the other linebackers.
    -
  • Potential early departures
Safety Jake Lott might have just punched his ticket into the NFL with his four-interception performance on Saturday, bringing his season total to eight. Lott, a junior, was already considered a potential day one draft pick and his stock is only rising. The two junior linebackers -- Gross and Travis Hughes -- are as good as gone. Who else is on the bubble and impressive performances in the final two games could lead to them bolting for the draft?

Running back David Fuller has been banged up all season and it remains to be seen which way that will swing his decision. On one hand, he wasn't able to solidify his status as an elite running back with an encore of his 2024 season but on the other, he's already had a rash of injuries and could be looking to get paid if he's going to be banged up.

Quarterback Nick Williams is an interesting case study because he only has one year of starting experience but that year happens to be on par with the top of the sport with 318 yards per game, nearly a 3:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio and completed sixty five percent of his passes.

Recruiting Class in Review: 'Close but no cigar' is theme of 2022 recruiting class
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports USF Insider

With a national championship in their back pocket, USF was able to a recruit a pretty good class in 2022 that finished in the top ten rankings and featured two five stars. The two five-stars contributed, showed flashes but for different reasons, just didn't quite reach expectations. The same can be said for a lot of the guys that USF brought on in this recruiting cycle.

When it was all said and done, how does this class grade out? The grading criteria is as follows: 1 star for non-contributor, 2 star for depth player, 3 star for contributor, 4 star for impact starter, 5 star for a star player.

2022 USF Bulls Recruiting Class
HB Gerald Mitchell [HB #3]: 6'0", 200lbs | Newington, VA | 5-star | 4.44 40-yd dash, 345 Bench Press Max, 350 Squat Max
Career Stats » 224 carries, 1347 yards, 12 touchdowns.
Analysis » After a decent freshman season as a situational backup running back, Mitchell dealt with injuries throughout his career at USF before medically retiring as a junior. It's hard to grade Mitchell due to his injury history but ultimately, he was never able to make that next jump and we'll never know what an injury free Gerald Mitchell career would have panned out.
Grade » 3-star

HB/WR/DB Joel Bass [ATH #11]: 6'3", 220lbs | Marietta, GA | 5-star | 4.42 40-yd dash, 350 Bench Press Max, 290 Squat Max
Career Stats » 97 receptions, 1262 yards, 9 touchdowns.
Analysis » While Mitchell dealt with injuries, Bass had to deal with the fact that USF was simply loaded at receiver and he never got the chance to be the Bulls top receiver as he played third fiddle to William Stone and Andrew Vincent and once more to Jason Barbour and Darius Downs. He was a good player and a team captain for two of his three seasons but ultimately, he wasn't that dynamic player that USF had hoped for when they signed him.
Grade » 3-star

TE Jacob Dickson [TE #2]: 6'4", 244lbs | Roselle, NJ | 4-star | 4.72 40-yd dash, 405 Bench Press Max, 300 Squat Max
Career Stats » 37 receptions, 343 yards, touchdown.
Analysis » While it took injuries to get Dickson on the field as a pass catcher this year, Dickson has been a situational player for the Bulls for the past three seasons due to his abilities as a blocker, which were always his strong points coming out of high school. It's hard to call this a miss since Dickson is who the Bulls thought he would be but the industry as a whole probably overrated him as he's not quite a four-star level player.
Grade » 3-star

S Ray Thompson [S #1]: 6'1", 187lbs | Calabasas, CA | 4-star | 4.46 40-yd dash, 285 Bench Press Max, 385 Squat Max
Career Stats » 197 tackles, 28 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, 5 interceptions, 8 pass breakups.
Analysis » Thompson was a complete hit by the Bulls. He was tough against the run and fit their 3-3-5 defense perfectly once Dave Doeren took over the defense as he matched up well with slot receivers and tight ends just the same with his physicality and played on the other side of the line of scrimmage a ton, especially for a defensive back.
Grade » 5-star

OLB John Reed [OLB #2]: 6'3", 215lbs | Miami, FL | 4-star | 4.62 40-yd dash, 430 Bench Press Max, 655 Squat Max
Career Stats » 158 tackles, 30 tackles for loss, 6 sacks, 3 interceptions.
Analysis » A starter as a freshman, Reed first splashed onto the scene as a pure off-ball linebacker at around 220 pounds. He lost his job to Dallas Gross as a sophomore and served as a backup until his junior season where he changed his body, bulked up to 240 pounds and has served as the team's Sam linebacker which has responsibilities as a pass rusher, edge setter, run stuffer and as a coverage guy. His numbers aren't out of the world but Reed has made a ton of plays that don't show up on the stat sheet.
Grade » 4-star

DE Travis Scott [DE #12]: 6'2", 260lbs | Boca Raton, FL | 4-star | 4.74 40-yd dash, 425 Bench Press Max, 585 Squat Max
Career Stats » 19 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 5 sacks.
Analysis » A big get at the time, Scott wasn't able to crack the rotation at defensive end until last season and even then, he's been just an okay guy in the mix, capable of making a play here and there. He'll have his chance next season with Mark Robinson and Dave Bolen graduating but for now, he's been a disappointment.
Grade » 2-star

LB Alex Miller [ILB #9]: 6'2", 248lbs | Tampa, FL | 4-star | 4.58 40-yd dash, 400 Bench Press Max, 570 Squat Max
Career Stats » 33 tackles, 4 tackles for loss.
Analysis » Like a lot of the linebackers on the roster, Miller has been stuck behind Dallas Gross and Travis Hughes as he redshirted as a true freshman and then in his second year, Gross and Hughes showed up and never let go of their spot. When Hughes missed games last season, Miller impressed with 23 tackles and he could be the starter next season should (when) Hughes declares for the draft.
Grade » 2-star

T Tanner Patton [T #13]: 6'7", 264lbs | Brandon, FL | 3-star | 4.66 40-yd dash, 455 Bench Press Max, 605 Squat Max
Career Stats » 1 sack allowed.
Analysis » An uber athletic tackle with the perfect frame to develop into a stud left tackle, Patton never got that opportunity and at this rate, he never might. He wasn't able to crack the two-deep as a redshirt junior as he lost the starting job to redshirt sophomore Darryl Williams and senior Charles Joseph is listed as the backup.
Grade » 1-star

CB Ray Hill [CB 20]: 6'0", 180lbs | Miami, FL | 3-star | 4.44 40-yd dash, 255 Bench Press Max, 230 Squat Max
Career Stats » 160 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 16 interceptions.
Analysis » You can't go wrong going to south Florida to get your corners and Hill is another example why. He was a three-star but a coveted one with offers from Miami and the likes and after the Bulls snatched him from the Canes, he went on to be a four-year contributor, starting the last three seasons at corner and being one of the team's better defensive backs.
Grade » 4-star

OLB Skyler Wilson [OLB #25]: 6'3", 205bs | Miami, FL | 3-star| 4.72 40-yd dash, 425 Bench Press Max, 535 Squat Max
Career Stats » 38 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, interception.
Analysis » Similar to Miller, Gross and Hughes kept Wilson off the field whose frame was always going to give him issues when it came to taking on blocks. Wilson move to Rover this season and has been okay with sixteen tackles but nothing amazing.
Grade » 2-star

OLB Matt Collins [OLB #41]: 6'5", 233lbs | Tampa, FL | 3-star | 4.62 40-yd dash, 420 Bench Press Max, 595 Squat Max
Career Stats » 18 tackles, interception.
Analysis » A favorite of the coaching staff, Collins has mainly been a special teams guy but his athletic traits definitely are intriguing but it remains to be seen what he does with the potential opportunity he might receive as a senior.
Grade » 1-star

DE Kelvin Davis [DE #75]: 6'5", 255lbs | Coral Springs, FL | 3-star | 4.66 40-yd dash, 400 Bench Press Max, 630 Squat Max
Career Stats » 19 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 8 sacks.
Analysis » In limited playing time, Davis racked up five sacks last season, bouncing back from an uneventful sophomore season where he had zero sacks after recording two as a freshman. The yo-yo continued this season with just one sack to his name. Ultimately, Davis was never able to extrapolate the production as he got more and more snaps.
Grade » 2-star

CB Cody Johnson [CB #59]: 5'11", 187lbs | Miami, FL | 3-star | 4.46 40-yd dash, 270 Bench Press Max, 225 Squat Max
Career Stats » 18 tackles, 4 tackles for loss.
Analysis » Johnson entered the season as the team's third corner but has since lost that spot to true freshman Pierre Francois. A sound technician, Johnson just always seems to be a step behind or not turn his head around quick enough to make a play.
Grade » 2-star

ILB Calvin Franz [ILB #60]: 6'1", 226lbs | Pompano Beach, FL | 3-star | 4.52 40-yd dash, 400 Bench Press Max, 605 Squat Max
Career Stats » 22 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, sack.
Analysis » You should know the story by now. Talented kid but stuck behind Gross and Hughes, specifically Hughes for Franz as they have similar skillsets. He played a bit last season when Hughes got hurt, racking up 18 tackles. He'll compete for that spot next season with Miller.
Grade » 2-star

S Malcolm Francois Jr. [S #55]: 5'11", 174lbs | Tampa, FL | 3-star | 4.40 40-yd dash, 305 Bench Press Max, 195 Squat Max
Career Stats » 10 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 49 receptions, 781 yards, 9 touchdowns.
Analysis » After being a backup at safety his first two seasons, Francois moved to receiver as a junior and had a great season, leading the team in touchdowns and averaging over 50 yards per game. A knee injury caused him to redshirt this season, keeping him away from earning that fourth star but he's close.
Grade » 3-star

CB Cedric Whaley [CB #118]: 6'0", 194lbs | Clifton, AZ | 4.56 40-yd dash, 300 Bench Press Max, 250 Squat Max
Career Stats » 10 tackles.
Analysis » Never was able to crack the two deep.
Grade » 1-star

Superlative Awards
Most Important Signing: Mitchell helped keep a run of five-star running backs going and was a big signing at the time as he was the first commitment of the class and got that momentum going.

Most Productive Signing: Reed's production the last two seasons makes it closer but in the end, it's Thompson by a mile.

Biggest Bust of the Class: It might not be fair to call Mitchell a bust since injuries is what caused his career to go sideways but ultimately, he never got the chance to show Bulls fans and coaches why he was a five-star recruit.

Most Untapped Potential: Mitchell and Bass are probably the popular answers here but Patton is an interesting one as he's a six-foot-seven offensive tackle with an insane level of athleticism.

Biggest Steal of the Class: We'll see how Francois bounces back from the injury but for now it's Ray Hill as they got a four-year contributor/starter out of a three-star recruit.

Biggest Lost of the Class: Former Alabama WR Andy Austin was the Bulls top target at one point before he signed with the Tide. USF got to beat him a few times but you have to wonder what that receiving corps looks like with Austin, Stone and Vincent,

Everett shines in return as Williams breaks record in 52-9 drubbing of rival UCF
USF sophomore tight end Vincent Everett kept trying to get on the field over the past month after missing nearly the entire season with a wrist injury. Team doctors and coaches wouldn't sign off on it until this past Friday when Everett went through the pre-game warm ups and was cleared for the game. Everett and the rest of the team didn't know that the former five-star recruit would be playing until an hour before kickoff.

It didn't take him an hour to him to remind the rest of the country just how good he is, catching five passes on the first drive of the game and leading the Bulls to a 52-9 victory over UCF.

Everett had over 50 receiving yards by the end of the first drive, including a touchdown. He had over 100 yards by the end of the first half, finishing the game with 242 yards receiving and two touchdowns, nearly outdoing the entire Central Florida offense by himself.

Nick Williams threw five touchdowns, breaking the school record for most touchdowns in a season with 33 and could have had more if not for two endzone drops and an interception at the goal line. He finished the day with 497 yards passing.

Copeland commits to Nebraska over Bulls as USF's offensive line woes on the trail continues
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports USF Insider

Three-star offensive lineman Brent Copeland has committed to the University of Nebraska over offers from USF, Kansas and Tulsa.

Copeland, hailing out of Spring, Texas, was the Bulls only remaining target on the board along the offensive line. Striking out on Copeland this late in the cycle likely means that USF will sign just one offensive linemen in this year's class in three-star offensive guard Stephen Brown, who is viewed as a project by recruiting services and USF's coaching staff. There weren't a ton of options when the Bulls offered Copeland later in the cycle and there are even less opportunities now.

In other recruiting news, the Bulls might be losing out on the third Francois brother as Carrollwood's quarterback Jean-Jacques Francois, the son of Bulls head coach Malcolm Francois, has taken official visits to Troy and Georgia Southern in the last three weeks. The younger Francois shared with 247 Sports that he's being recruited by those schools as a quarterback. His recruitment has long been considered a two team battle between USF and USC, with both recruiting him as a tight end.
