I just view it as - if a world class athlete can't lose weight by working out what hope do we have - which is I'm sure part of the marketing scheme to begin with
a lot of them do but some of them have been eating 10,000 kcal a day for 20 years, that would be a hard habit to break

Since they'd like have a hard time switching from eat as much as needed to stay 375 to "hey, you're 42 year old, you shouldn't be 375."

As a PR professional, if her PR team told her not to remove herself from being the catalyst for racism, it's because she's racist.

the other angle - and again I'm not privy on the subject and this is slightly DA for the convo - is how do we know the league, the Fever, or even her own PR team has told her specifically not to because of the attention it brings the league? Hasn't viewership skyrocketed since she joined the league?

I mean if we boil it down. I don't think anyone said KK had to be a role model. But she should say something about what is going on and doing in her name. That's all.

outspoken ≠ trying to be a role model

I'm not saying she shouldn't say something about it, but again. Not everyone built like that. We shouldn't expect our athletes to be our role models, regardless.
This is such a funny post since he is so out spoken these days

As we've learned, it doesn't even make you an expert on what you're an outstanding athlete in

So yeah, the whole topic is kinda contradictory and messy, and personally I’m more of a “don’t put your heroes on a pedestal” and “keep expectations realistic” than “don’t have them” kind of guy but it’s a personal preference kind of thing
  • ChillcavernWed Jul 15, 2026 2:58 pm
There’s a certain amount of that that’s unavoidable for frankly anyone (at least in their personal lives) and public figures, who inherently have at least some amount of parasocial relationships, will inevitably “punch above their weight” in terms of that kind of influence
