Yeah....it was something. But we still don't have Chet, so there's that.

Young Knicks Set Out to Prove Themselves
Record:
70-12
Head Coach: Stephen Silas
Last season, the New York Knicks capped off an amazing 81 win season by winning their third championship in franchise history, their first championship since 1973, fueled by the duo of future Hall of Famer, Derek Baldwin and his nephew, reigning MVP, Noah Baldwin II. Many questioned if the Knicks would be able to hold up without having the scoring power of Derek Baldwin in the lineup this season. New York started the season 19-0 to prove that last season wasn’t just a one-off. Despite having their second scoring option, Chet Holmgren, injured sporadically throughout the season, New York still managed to impress with 70 wins.

The Knicks still remain one of the most efficient teams in the league, shooting over 50% from the field. Their three point shooting is up this season at 38%, but they’re only the sixth best three point shooting team in the league. They’ve managed to hold their opponents to only 100 points this season, defeating team’s by an average of 17 points.

Led by Noah Baldwin (28.5ppg, 7.5apg) and Chet Holmgren (12.7ppg, 10.7rpg), the Knicks look to be in solid shape as long as everyone stays healthy this season.

It’s time to prove that they are the real deal.

Brooklyn Ready to Reclaim the Throne
Record:
57-25
Head Coach: Kobe Bryant
Brooklyn managed to go on an 11-game win streak to close out the season with the second best record in the Eastern Conference. Brooklyn lost to the eventual champion Knicks in last year’s Eastern Conference Finals and while there weren’t many roster changes this offseason, the team still looked stronger than ever. Brooklyn remained relatively healthy this season compared to last season, but the team seemed to be losing their chemistry as they’ve lost all of their veterans over the past few seasons (Greg Monroe, Paul George, Derek Baldwin) leaving Shareef O’Neal (15.5ppg, 9.4rpg) and Keith Perkins (18.1ppg, 5.1apg) to lead their young stars Nate Matthews, Adam Demps, and Andrej Stojakovic. The Nets will have quite the road back to the Finals as they will more than likely have to get past a Boston Celtics team that is coming into its own.

New Look Celtics Have Returned as a Contender in the East
Record:
55-27
Head Coach: Joe Mazulla
The Boston Celtics’ last NBA Playoff appearance was in 2027, where they were an 8th seed facing a Derek Baldwin led Brooklyn Nets team going for back to back titles. The Celtics have spent the last four years rebuilding, and they look to have all the pieces they need. Drafting Kentucky’s Jackie Robinson with the number one pick last year, followed up by signing DeAndre Ayton during the offseason, and retaining Jayson Tatum.

It took the team a while to get acclimated to each other, but by the time December rolled around, the wins started to pile up in Bean Town. Boston ended a 9 game winning streak in December and had an 11 game win streak roll through the new year.

Robinson (17.3ppg) led the C’s in scoring, taking some of that pressure off of veteran Jayson Tatum and making a strong case for Rookie of the Year. Ayton (15.1ppg, 9.7rpg) has held things down in the paint.

Boston went 8-2 to end the season. One of those wins coming against the New York Knicks in a blowout. They split the season series with the reigning champs, leaving them optimistic for the playoffs.

Pacers Continue to Improve; Looking to Advance in Playoffs
Record:
51-31
Head Coach: Rick Carlisle
The Indiana Pacers edged into the playoffs last season as the 7th seed. This year, they won 7 more games and have jumped three spots to the fourth seed in the East. Despite being the fourth best team in the East, the Pacers have one of the worst field goal percentages out of all the teams in the playoffs. They will have their hands full with the New Orleans Pelicans if their shots aren’t falling.

The Pacers organization is still looking for their first championship, and while this may not be their season, they are moving in the right direction.

Rookie Conroy Pushing Pels to New Heights
Record:
49-33
Head Coach: Willie Green
Head Coach Willie Green and the New Orleans Pelicans struck gold in the draft by taking Will Conroy Jr. with the seventh overall pick. The Pelicans also signed veteran and NBA Champion Malik Newman, to help bring a winning mentality to the club. Newman won multiple championships with the Philadelphia 76ers. Conroy is the Pelicans leading scorer this season, averaging 20.5 points per game and is looking to advance his team to the second round of the playoffs.

This will be New Orleans first appearance since moving to the Eastern Conference.

House Bros Give Sixers Much Needed Boost
Record:
45-37
Head Coach: Doc Rivers
Philadelphia took the opportunity to reunite twins Kaden (14.2ppg) and Kalek (12.9ppg) House this season and it appears to have paid off well. The Sixers drafted Kaden in the first round of the 2029 NBA Draft, while his twin brother Kalek was taking by Denver in the second round and was part of the Nuggets’ playoff run last season. Since having the brothers in the starting lineup, Philadelphia won 27 of their 45 wins this season.

Philadelphia has fallen quite a bit from the team that won the Larry O’Brien two years in a row, they haven’t made it out of the first round of the playoffs since 2027, where they were swept in the Eastern Conference Finals by the Brooklyn Nets, but they are looking to make some headway.

Bulls Hoping to Use Playoffs As a Proving Ground
Record:
43-39
Head Coach: Billy Donovan
Sebastio Saramago, Mikey Williams and the Chicago Bulls have something to prove and they are hoping it starts by making it to the post season this year. Saramago left the New York Knicks after the team had a wildly successful 2029 season, running all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals, and this is opportunity to show that the move was the right one for him. The Bulls have had a rash of injuries this season, making the roster hard to keep steady. Saramago missed over 10 games this season. Chicago rookie, Erik McDonald missed over 30 games this season.

The core of Williams (15.9ppg), Jaden Ivey (14.6ppg), and Magnus Law (12.6ppg) played the most games this season and coincidentally are the team’s leading scorers.

Will Hornets have Another Wild Playoff Run?
Record:
39-43
Head Coach: Steve Clifford

Charlotte is bringing up the rear in this year’s playoffs. The Hornets suffered a five game losing streak to end the season, but managed to hold on to the eighth seed.

Charlotte was last in the NBA Playoffs in 2026, where they upset Philadelphia and Chicago in 7 game series as a sixth seed to make their way to the Eastern Conference Finals to face the eventual champion Brooklyn Nets. While we don’t expect Charlotte to come away with an upset against the reigning champions, we don’t expect them to go away so quietly either. The Hornets did defeat the Knicks in January and they nearly pulled off an upset, but suffered a 101-99 loss to the Knicks earlier this month.

A 70-12 team is going to be hard for any of these eastern teams to top. It'll have to come down to the West to best the Knicks.

The only team that could give us a run for our money in the East would probably be Boston, if 2K has them rolling in the playoffs.
