PHOENIX (AP) Devin Booker retuned to Phoenix again in a new uniform for the second time in his NBA career. This time as a member of the reigning champion New York Knicks. This new Knicks team looked a bit disjointed as it was obvious Noah Baldwin and company were trying to get Booker involved early. Not sure if it was first game jitters or not, but Booker missed all five of shot attempts in the first quarter. Booker finished with three points in his first game as a Knick.

Baldwin managed to get going in the third quarter, scoring 15 as the Knicks continued to push their lead late in the game. Knicks’ rookie Angelo Messina picked up a double-double in his NBA debut. Kristaps Porzingas had a strong start for Phoenix, but his performance seem to taper off as the game went on.

New York heads home to face the Toronto Raptors. The Suns will remain at home to host Portland.

Booker on his second “first game back”: I’ve spent the last four years in the other locker room. You would think I’m used to it by now, but it still feels like the first time I showed up as a Houston Rocket. At least I only have to do this once this year. Just rip the band off.

NEW YORK (AP) It was a big night for the city of New York as the Knicks put up their second banner in as many years. Remy Benoit and Michael Mitchell were given the start in front of the home crowd tonight after coming off the bench against Phoenix.

The Toronto Raptors were looking to pick up their first win after losing to the Denver Nuggets just two nights prior. A lot of new faces are in Raptors’ uniforms this season, including the fifth overall pick in this year’s draft, Deron Landry, out of LSU. Landry has struggled in his first two games as an NBA player. He scored 8 points in the loss to Denver and was held to just 5 points in tonight’s loss to New York.

After a slow start in the first quarter, New York began to find their groove scoring almost 40 points to retake the lead by halftime. Noah Baldwin led all in scoring with a hard earned 24 points, only 12 of those coming in the paint after being knocked to the floor by undrafted Serbian rookie, Peja Lukovski. Lukovski had five fouls to go along with 4 points and 12 rebounds. Knicks rookie, Angelo Messina finished with double-digit boards again, grabbing 10 rebounds in the win.

Raptors Head Coach Darko Rajakovic on the team’s growing pains: We have five new players that we are working into the rotation, so that can be a tall order for any team. And none of these guys are just role players. Everyone here can contribute, so it’s going to take some time for the guys to just figure out how and where they fit. As for Landry, he’s having to adjust to the pro game and that will come with time.
