Spurs blown out by Rockets in home opener, 114-92

SAN ANTONIO -- It wasn't the outcome Spurs fans were hoping to see in the team's home opener, as the Houston Rockets blew the lid off San Antonio behind Jalen Green's 38-point performance en route to their second win of the year.

"We weren't prepared tonight", said head coach Gregg Popovich. "We were too sloppy and our shots didn't start falling until the game was out of hand. It's really that simple."

Outside of Devin Vassell's 21 points, no Spur reached more than Keldon Johnson's 11, who went 7-of-8 from the charity stripe. Chris Paul chipped in with 10 points and eight assists.

The Rockets played the aggressor tonight, going 24-of-31 from the free throw line, compared to the Spurs' 15-of-20.

Up Next -- San Antonio will get their chance to avenge the loss as they host the Houston Rockets (2-1) once again.

He did most of his work in the 3rd and really helped blow the game open. It was close until then. I didn’t realize how efficient Wemby was in the first game (shot 13-15), so I probably forced a little with him in this one which is probably why he wasn’t as good.

…we get a rematch with them though, so if we can just get some more shots to fall, i think we’ll have a good chance.

We were sloppy. Tried forcing some drives that just ended up with me getting into traffic and losing the rock.

Yeah I think I was just forcing too much. They brought help defense and I didn’t make the best reads.

Still a solid night on below average shooting from Wemby

Yeah we can def hang our hat on that note.. if Wendy scores his normal 25 points, and we clean up the play a bit, then this would have been way closer and even potentially a win.
