I'm not even on my PNR cheese anymore, son just walking into those 40+ pt games off mismatches in the post. i think its a 2k glitch bc at some point, Brunson was guarding Wemby in half court sets

Not quite Shaq and Kobe, the San Antonio Spurs' rising guard-center duo fueling a resurgent season
The San Antonio Spurs’ season has taken an exciting turn, with second-year sensation Victor Wembanyama and guard Devin Vassell emerging as the core of a team poised for greatness. Through a breakout season, the two have led the Spurs to a 20-17 record, showcasing promising victories against top teams like the Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, and Oklahoma City Thunder. With a balanced blend of Wembanyama’s unique skill set and Vassell’s shooting prowess, the Spurs may have just found their next iconic duo—a pairing that could put San Antonio back on the NBA map.
In December, Devin Vassell took a notable step forward, delivering efficient and reliable scoring to give the Spurs the edge in close games. Averaging 19 points per game, Vassell shot a remarkable 49% from the field and 43% from three-point range. These shooting percentages highlight Vassell’s potential to be a regular 20+ points per game contributor—something that the Spurs need to complement Wembanyama’s high-impact inside-outside game.
What makes Vassell and Wembanyama such a promising duo is how well their styles complement each other on both sides of the court. Vassell continues to impress defensively, putting on a showcase performance against Jalen Brunson where Brunson shot 13-of-31 from the field and made just two of his ten three-point attempts. Vassell did all of this while still scoring an efficient 23 points on the offensive side of the ball.
The path ahead is bright for this young Spurs team, especially with Vassell and Wemby leading the charge. They’ve shown they can compete against elite competition, with signature wins over playoff-caliber teams. And as their chemistry continues to develop, the sky’s the limit. Vassell’s emergence as a scorer is exactly what the Spurs need to maximize Wembanyama’s potential, setting the stage for this duo to become the face of a new Spurs era.
