It might be the Lakers year. The tension is mounting and with every game that goes by the chances for the Lakers to turn this season around become shorter and shorter and shorter. There is almost zero chance if they continue to lose games at home, their latest one against Miami, 113-99. Orlando Robinson scored a career-high 22 points to lead the Heat tonight, hitting 10-of-14 shots from the field. Jimmy Butler set a new career-high for assists in a game with 17 to go along with 17 points. Newly acquired Zach LaVine also finished the game with a double-double, 16 points and 10 assists. Anthony Davis led the Lakers with 29 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and one block. Trae Young was much more active on the offensive end finishing with 21 points and nine assists. LeBron James had 19 points, six rebounds, three assists and three blocks. The Lakers stand currently 16-19, ranked ninth in the conference, but this team clearly needs to turn things around otherwise they are just wasting one of LeBron James few remaining years away.

For the past four seasons the question of when will Anthony Davis become the lead alpha on this Lakers team had been the ongoing question. It was brought up at training camp when LeBron James openly said this is AD's team now. Davis has had flashes of what a tremendous two-way player he can be over the years. That was capped off last year when he won his first Defensive Player of the Year award and he's making another strong argument this year to repeat that honor, but Davis has been doing something else lately and that is being the focal point of the Lakers offense. Now their record doesn't reflect the kind of attention he garners on the floor, but he's doing his part. Tonight was AD's eighth straight game recording a double-double. Davis finished the game tonight with a season-high 41 points (15-of-22 from the field) along with 15 rebounds, six assists, one steal and four blocks. He scored 21 of his 41 points in the second half which saw the Lakers outscore the Pelicans by 15 points to snap their four-game losing streak by the final score of 112-102. LeBron James had 22 points and nine rebounds, connecting on 10-of-24 shots from the field. Trae Young provided 14 points and six assists and off the bench Gabe Vincent added 12 points, two rebounds and three assists, hitting all five of his shots from the floor. Former Laker Brandon Ingram led the Pelicans with 23 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. Trey Murphy III had 19 points, hitting 5-of-11 from the three-point line. Zion Williamson put up 15 points despite an awful shooting game, going 7-of-23 from the field and CJ McCollum added 12 points and 11 assists.
