Lakers capture biggest win of the season over Celtics
Down by 11 in the third, Lakers make gritty comeback
Recap of Lakers/Celtics game played on January 29, 2025

Whenever the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics square off, all eyes of the basketball world are watching. The Lakers took on the defending NBA Champion Celtics Wednesday night, their fifth stop of this seven-game road trip. These two teams met back in December where the Celtics were rolling strong and had the leagues best record and defeated the Lakers. Now since that matchup the Lakers have added a few new pieces and after a rocky start, those pieces seem to be fitting right in. The Lakers looked like they were in for a long night in the second half because with three minutes left in the quarter Jaylen Brown was at the free throw line attempting to increase the Celtics lead to eleven points. Down 71-60, the Lakers went on a 14-0 run to end the quarter and take a three-point lead, 74-71. Buddy Hield and Gabe Vincent each knocked down two three-point shots as part of that 14-0 run. The Lakers did not give up the lead for the rest of the game as they went up by as many as twelve, 90-78 with five minutes remaining. The Celtics cut the Lakers lead down to three, 91-88, but Trae Young finished out the game going 10-for-10 from the free throw line, holding off the Celtics as the Lakers captured a 103-98 win. LeBron James led the Lakers with 28 points on 11-of-16 shooting from the field, along with eight rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Trae Young finished with 25 points, eight assists and one steal. Despite a poor shooting night for Young (6-of-22), he was automatic at the free throw line (12-of-12). Buddy Hield had 17 points off the bench, including 5-of-7 from the three-point line. Anthony Davis added 14 points, 19 rebounds, eight assists, one steal and one block. Jayson Tatum scored a game-high 42 points and also tied a Celtics franchise record by hitting 11 three-point shots. Jaylen Brown had a bad shooting night, going 3-of-17 from the field and 1-of-9 from the three-point line for just 14 points, but he grabbed seven rebounds and dished out eight assists. Jrue Holiday finished with 12 points, six rebounds, five assists and one steal. The Lakers will be travelling to Charlotte next for a matchup against the Hornets on Friday night.

Lakers cant make plays down the stretch against the Hornets
Outscored 17-6 in the final five minutes, now 3-3 on road trip
Recap of Lakers/Hornets game played on January 31, 2025

The Los Angeles Lakers came into tonight's contest against the Charlotte Hornets looking to build off their impressive victory over the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night. However, it was the Hornets were impressive and it was the Lakers who were left with their heads hanging low following a 123-112 loss to Charlotte. LaMelo Ball was simply fantastic tonight, putting up a game-high 40 points and dishing out 15 assists as well. Brandon Miller finished with 21 points, 11 rebounds and three assists while Miles Bridges put up 15 points, seven rebounds, one assist, one steal and two blocks. Mark Williams was an absolute beast in the paint tonight, finishing with 14 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks. For the Lakers LeBron James finished with 34 points, hitting 15-of-28 shots in the game. Trae Young, snapped out of his slump with a great performance, putting up 34 points as well along with five rebounds and five assists. Anthony Davis finished the game with 18 points and 21 rebounds and Max Christie added 12 points and seven assists. The Lakers gave up 40 points in the fourth quarter which hasn't happened in quite some time, but for them to have had the game tied 106-106 and come away with a loss is disheartening. The final game of this road trip is coming up on Sunday when the Lakers take on the Orlando Magic.

Final game of road trip, Lakers leave it all out on the court in overtime win
Trae Young shows up for Lakers when LeBron has off game
Recap of Lakers/Magic game played on February 2, 2025

The Los Angeles Lakers have called the road their home for the past two weeks. A seven-game, 14-day road trip that started in Dallas and ended in Orlando. A road trip that Coach Terry Stotts said would either define this team or break them. After those seven grueling games, the Lakers came out of it winners of four of seven and they seemed to have begun putting the pieces in place to maintain their recent success. A big part of that success is none other than Trae Young. Young had been in a slump, but on this road trip he has had some his best performances not only of his short Laker career but his career as a whole. Tonight, was one of them. Young led the Lakers with 43 points, three rebounds and six assists. Young hit 16-of-26 shots from the field, 4-of-6 from the three-point line and 7-of-8 from the free throw line. Anthony Davis finished with 21 points, 14 rebounds, and three blocks and he was very efficient tonight, going 10-of-14 from the field. LeBron James, without question had probably his worst game as a Laker to date. James however did manage to score in double figures which means he keeps his consecutive games of reaching double figures going. James had 13 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists, one steal and one block. Ironically it was James who gave the Lakers the lead for good in overtime but was an abysmal 3-of-20 from the field and 0-of-8 from the three-point line. Buddy Hield had 13 points off the bench for the Lakers and Max Christie added 11 points.
