Riley ready to shoot his way into Howard's history books as hobbled Bison head into MEAC Tournament

The best thing a shooter can hear from his head coach is to just keep on shooting. It's what falls on Kyle Riley's ears every day at practice.
"He doesn't have to tell me twice but he does," says Riley of the mentality that Howard head coach Isaiah Mohammed is instilling in him, demanding that his second-year shooting guard do just that: shoot and play defense.
The Bison haven't won a conference championship since 1992 which was the last year they also made the NCAA postseason. Mohammed was in his final season as head coach of Dunbar High School while some of the players on the roster hadn't even been born yet.
Howard will try to make history while missing two of its best players in Eugene Myatt (14.6 ppg) and Curtis White (13.1) who have missed the last month of the season due to injury. It hasn't been enough to slow down Howard, who won twenty one games this past season after winning just 24 games in the previous three seasons combined.
The 21 wins are the most in program history since 1987 and if they want to increase it, preferably to 24, they'll need Riley to continue to step up.
The second-year guard has averaged 13.6 points per game since Myatt went down with the injury and has been a welcomed addition as one of Howard's top players, replacing the outside shooting of White.
