I hate those Bulls inspired jerseys.

You seem to be getting in the groove a bit now.

Former Port Town High standout and current Chicago White Sox outfielder Donte Mollicone Jr. was arrested Monday in Chicago and was among sixteen people listed in an 88-page indictment filed on Sunday in Ocean County Superior Court.

Mollicone, who is the son of convicted drug trafficker Donte Mollicone Sr., has been indicted on federal charges alleging involvement in a large‑scale drug trafficking operation and violations of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO). According to the indictment unsealed this morning, Mollicone Jr. is accused of using his status and resources as a student‑athlete and professional player to facilitate the movement of illegal narcotics across state lines.

Federal prosecutors allege Mollicone Jr. is an active member of the Fiore crime family, a historically violent organization linked to murder‑for‑hire, extortion, loan‑sharking, and drug trafficking. More than two decades ago, Mollicone’s father along with other Fiore family members, were convicted on similar racketeering and murder‑for‑hire charges.

Prosecutors claim that as a high‑school, collegiate, and now professional athlete, Mollicone Jr. frequently traveled on private and chartered flights—opportunities the indictment says he exploited to transport large quantities of controlled substances across multiple state lines. It further alleges that Mollicone Jr. funneled proceeds from his collegiate Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) endorsements and his White Sox salary back into the Fiore family’s criminal operations.

Mollicone Jr. faces a total of four counts of drug trafficking under federal law, each count related to different interstate shipments. Additionally, the indictment includes multiple RICO counts, through which prosecutors charge him with participating in a continuing criminal enterprise. The RICO charges encompass conspiracy, distribution of narcotics, and money laundering.

If convicted of the trafficking charges, Mollicone Jr. could face up to life in prison, $10 million in fines, and forfeiture of assets. Under the RICO statutes, each racketeering violation can carry a sentence of up to 20 years, along with substantial financial penalties.

The Fiore organization rose to prominence in the 1980s and ’90s as a driving force in Port Town’s narcotics trade, also linked to a series of contract killings, extortion rackets targeting small businesses, and predatory loan‑sharking. The federal sweep two decades ago dismantled much of its leadership, including Mollicone Sr. Former federal agents now suggest the family is staging a resurgence, and Mollicone Jr.’s indictment may reflect a broader effort to root out the group’s re‑emergence.

UPDATE: Representatives for the White Sox released a statement acknowledging the indictment:

“We are aware of the charges filed today. Donte Mollicone Jr. has been suspended pending resolution of these proceedings. We will fully cooperate with law enforcement and federal authorities.”
