Paris FC Set Clear Targets After Promotion to Ligue 1

The Arnault family has clear targets for the club in their first season back in Ligue 1

Fresh off their title-winning 2024–25 campaign and promotion, Paris FC have outlined measured but ambitious objectives for their return to the top flight. After dominating Ligue 2, the board has opted for a stability-first approach rather than demanding an immediate European push.

The primary sporting objective is a mid-table finish in Ligue 1, with leadership emphasizing consolidation and competitive consistency over short-term risk. The club views survival with margin, not a relegation battle, as the key benchmark of progress in year one after promotion.

Cup competition also matters. Paris FC are targeting a Round of 16 run in the Coupe de France, seeing the tournament as an opportunity to test squad depth and maintain momentum across multiple competitions without overextending core starters.

Recruitment directives are equally specific. The board has mandated the signing of three players aged 20 or younger to strengthen the squad and build long-term value. In parallel, the club must add one experienced first-team defender capable of stepping directly into the starting lineup, bringing leadership and top-division reliability to the back line.

The message is clear: build smart, stay competitive, and make promotion stick.

Paris FC Make Ethan Mbappe First Summer Signing for €3.2M from Lille

Ethan Mbappe becomes the first signing under Bompastor's leadership

Paris FC have signed 18-year-old midfielder Ethan Mbappé from Lille OSC for €3.2 million, adding a high-upside starter to their Ligue 1 squad. He is set to begin the season at left central midfield, with Marchetti providing experienced cover and rotation support. Mbappé will wear the number 7 shirt, underlining the club’s belief in his role. His combination of size, technical quality, and composure makes him a strong fit for the system, while his family name brings major brand visibility alongside clear on-field potential.

Paris FC Land Soumaïla Coulibaly as Key Defensive Signing

Coulibaly replaces departed club captain Timothée Kolodziejczak as the #5

Paris FC have secured a major defensive addition with the signing of 21-year-old center back Soumaïla Coulibaly from Borussia Dortmund for €5M. The deal was made possible by Coulibaly’s contract situation, with his previous terms running low, allowing Paris FC to move decisively on what club officials describe as a high-value opportunity.

Regarded as a top-level prospect, Coulibaly brings strength, recovery pace, and elite defensive upside, and is viewed as a cornerstone piece for the club’s Ligue 1 back line. He steps directly into the vacancy left by former captain Timothée Kolodziejczak and will take over the number 5 shirt.

Recruitment staff see the move as the acquisition of a distressed asset with star potential, a rare blend of affordability and ceiling. Coulibaly is expected to be instrumental in building a faster, more dominant defensive unit.

Paris FC Sell Mathieu Cafaro to Hoffenheim, Sign Genk's Adedeji-Sternberg

Adedeji-Sternberg shakes hands with his new manager upon entering Paris FC's facilities

Paris FC moved decisively to replace Mathieu Cafaro, who left the club for €8.5M to Hoffenheim after a contract negotiation impasse, by activating the €6.6 million release clause of 20-year-old Belgian winger Adedeji-Sternberg, signing him from KRC Genk.

With Cafaro sold to Hoffenheim following an impasse over wage demands, Paris FC identified Adedeji-Sternberg as a like-for-like but higher-upside replacement and wasted little time completing the deal. The winger will immediately assume the starting role on the left wing and take over the number 11 shirt.

Highly regarded for his pace, power, and direct attacking style, Adedeji-Sternberg fits seamlessly into the club’s high-intensity system and is expected to be a key contributor in Ligue 1 from day one.

Checking in after a day away and you only finished with 88 points. Then I saw you simmed, which makes sense.

Smart deal with Mbappe, his name alone will have people interested.

Any funds left for the former United player?

No funds left for Martial unfortunately unless I have a sale. He also doesn't fit into the board objectives and one of my house rules is to not buy outside of those. Maybe next season, maybe I'll make an exception, we'll see
