Make AFC AJAX Great Again
Interesting choice with the brothers. I sort of did the same with Kamaldeen and Ibrahim Sulemana in my story. Only to realize, that they aren't related to each other...
Off topic: My 8 year old son has just read a book about the greatest Danish footballers of all time. Mentioning legends such as Henning Jensen, Allan Simonsen, Preben Elkjær, Peter Schmeichel, the Laudrup brothers and more. In both chapters with the Laudrups it said that they both ended their careers at Ajax, winning the Eredivisie title TOGETHER. That couldn't be right, I though. And no. Michael played there in 1997/98, Brian in 1999/00. So no brothers-story there... At least not at the same time.

True, Michael Laudrup won the double in 1998, played a World Cup and retired. Although initially he was supposed to stick around for another season. But due to a management crisis in the club, things were going downhill rapidly at the club (the whole Champions League winning generation started to depart and those who didn't forced their departure).JustinCase wrote: ↑12 Mar 2026, 11:06In both chapters with the Laudrups it said that they both ended their careers at Ajax, winning the Eredivisie title TOGETHER. Brian Laudrup came for the 1999/2000 season but the club was too deep in a crisis at the time. So, he didn't win anything with us, but he did play the centennial game in the original Ajax-jerseys in March 2000 (which Ajax lost against Twente 0-1). In colours as it was originally intended: Amsterdam colours: red-white-black. However, in the times of Michels and Cruijff they swapped the black socks for white ones and never changed that back
Above L2R: Cristian Chivu (then, a rookie), Jesper Grønkjær, Brian Laudrup, Jan van Halst, Fred Grim (yes, the interim-manager until Monday) and Aaron Mokoena. That last player Justincase had his best phase of his career at... Blackburn Rovers

It looks like the second half roster was more experienced than the one that played the first half, seeing Dolberg, Tomiyasu, Zinchenko etc. in action. Though it was the second half that saw a collapse for Ajax. A bit worrying, even though you should never read too much into a pre-season friendly...

Marc Guiu seems to be a good fit for Ajax. The move to Chelsea really stopped his progression as a player, he should have moved to a club with more playing time originally. Something you can offer him.
Chuba has finally moved on. The fee being much lower than Ajax bought him for but the wages are gone and his services no longer needed. Funny career he has had, a few nice seasons mixed in with half a dozen loan moves.
What is the position you are working to improve next?
