Thanks. I've done league updates before but trying to do them monthly now to keep people posted, and also include a narrative blurb on it.

I'm not planning to buy FC 26 until it's heavily discounted tbh. Need to start clapping back at EA with my $s

Thanks bro, intend to make this a long one if I can. Getting renewed energy from trying to dominate possession and really pick teams apart.

Yeah I got a bit of a rep for starting too many of these, but hoping this will be another long one like Ingolstadt :yep:

November 1st, 2024 - LaLiga Update

Image
Valladolid have stunned the world so far this season, sitting in a Champions League place after 11 matches.

As the season moves into November, Real Madrid remain the dominant force in LaLiga. Still unbeaten after 11 matches, Los Blancos have won 10 and drawn 1, boasting both the best attack (23 goals) and the stingiest defense (just 5 conceded). Kylian Mbappé has quickly established himself as a superstar in Spain, netting 8 goals in 11 matches, while Thibaut Courtois leads all goalkeepers with 7 clean sheets.

Chasing them are Barcelona and the surprise package of the season: Real Valladolid. Barcelona, led by Robert Lewandowski (6 goals) and Raphinha, have 23 points but defensive lapses have slowed them. Meanwhile, Cesc Fàbregas’ Valladolid sit level on points (23), powered by an explosive attack that has scored 28 goals in 11 games. Former Madrid youth striker Juan Latasa is the league’s breakout star, topping the scoring charts with 9 goals in just 10 appearances.

Even more impressive is Valladolid’s creativity: Kenedy (6 assists in 4 games), Raúl Moro (6 assists), and Iván Sánchez (5 assists) occupy three of the top five spots in the assist rankings. Behind them, young goalkeeper Álvaro Aceves continues his rise with 5 clean sheets, confirming the blend of youth and experience that Fabregas has championed.

Elsewhere, Atlético de Madrid (21 points) remain within striking distance, while Real Betis and Girona round out the top six. Las Palmas and Valencia are enjoying strong seasons, while Sevilla grind out results through draws. At the other end, Celta Vigo’s defensive frailty (25 conceded) leaves them in crisis, joined by struggling Mallorca, Rayo Vallecano, and Espanyol in the relegation fight.

With Madrid clear at the summit, the battle for second — and perhaps the chance to mount an outside title challenge — is wide open. The biggest story, however, is Valladolid’s rise: under Fàbregas, they’ve gone from hopefuls to genuine challengers, playing some of the most exciting football in Spain.
