Spurs complete the improbable and win their first Premier League title in club history
A matter that had become merely parliamentary since their rabid start to the season still felt improbable and inconceivable as Spurs lifted the Premier League trophy for the first time in club history and their first league title since the 1960s, ending a drought that many Tottenham Hotspur supporters had accepted might never end in their lifetime.

The ending was a bit anti-climatic with Spurs failing to clinch the title at home against Everton with Carlos Alcatraz's goal with eight minutes left. They would have wait until a mid-week affair where it was second place Liverpool that failed to collect all three points against Aston Villa, handing Spurs the title.

The celebrations in North London weren't dampened at all as Spurs fans got to watch their team lift three trophies in the span of ten days, arguably the best ten day span in the history of the club. Two years since his unlikely appointment as Spurs manager, Kwamele Owusu has delivered with four trophies in two seasons and Spurs have their sights now set on another first: a Champions League title.

They'll have to bolster their squad and make some tough decisions this summer. Leandro Barreiro was a great addition and Spurs are almost guaranteed to pick up his buy-clause at €20 million after leading the team in games played, tied with Rodrygo who missed the Europa League final due to suspension. However, if Spurs want to make a deep run in the Champions League, they might need to add some more elite talent in their midfield. While Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall has been cornerstone in Owusu's project as manager, they likely need some more quality in that midfield to go into the likes of the Bernabeu and come away with a win.

The same can be said for their depth in the attack. The trio of Mo Kudus, Mathys Tel and Rodrygo are as good as it gets in the Premier League with 72 goals between them but behind them, Elijah Adebayo and Joseph Paintsil proved doubters wrong this season with thirty six goals. They were pivotal in allowing Spurs to rotate their squad in cup games as well as in the Europa League but playing against Bayern Munich and Barcelona is very different than the competition they faced in Europa League.

There's also the business side of things that will need to be addressed. Since Owusu's appointment, Spurs have been very aggressive and cannot be accused of being the same old Spurs with shallow pockets under Daniel Levy. They've broken consecutive record fees with the acquisitions of Xavi Simons, Kudus and Rodrygo in the first six months of Owusu's tenure but since then, we haven't seen them open their wallets in such manner. Now, they have a chance to do some very good business in terms of moving on from certain players and striking while the iron is hot.

This is certainly the case with Tel who could go for €100 million this summer. Micky van de Ven has always been linked to big clubs such as Real Madrid and Guglielmo Vicario had a career season, which could send some of the big Italian clubs calling once more. Atalanta made a play for Destiny Udogie last summer and Djed Spence briefly flirted with Brighton during the winter window.

This Spurs squad that won the league title likely won't be the same team that will defend it next season. What remains to be seen is if that's a good thing.
