Previewing the 2018-2019 NHL Season...

October 3, 2018

Can Washington repeat?

Hello Hockey Fans! October has arrived! Which means the puck is about to drop on the new NHL Season today! Back on June 7, the Washington Capitals have finally exercised the demons and reached the top of the mountain. Alexander Ovechkin and the Caps have got to hoist Lord Stanley for the first time in Franchise history. All eyes will be on the Nation's Capital this season as the Capitals will try to become the 8th Franchise in history to win back-to-back Stanley Cups. Washington will have a new voice behind the bench this year as former Head Coach Barry Trotz left for Brooklyn to take the Islanders job. Former Washington Assistant Coach Todd Reirden will take over the reigns for the defending Champions. Can anyone dethrone Washington in the East?

Can anyone in the Western Conference dethrone Vegas?

Last Season the expansion Vegas Golden Knights took the NHL by storm racking up 51 wins and a Pacific Division Title in their first year. The Golden Knights stormed their way through the Western Conference Playoffs making a historic run all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals. They lost to the red hot Washington Capitals in 5 games. This season all eyes are on the 2nd year Franchise out of the desert. Can they be dethroned in a heavy Western Conference?

SHARKS stomp DUCKS 5-2 on Opening Night...

October 3, 2018

San Jose, CA- Erik Karlsson had 2 Assists, Martin Jones turned away 31 shots, and the San Jose Sharks(1-0) start their new campaign with a 5-2 victory over Division Rivals, Anaheim Ducks 5-2 on Opening Night.

"We wanted to start our Season off on the right foot and we did that. Great Team effort for us." Sharks Head Coach Pete DeBoer stated. "A win over a Pacific Division Rival like that is always great to get."

Anaheim(0-1) got on the board first with a Power Play Goal in the First Period when Ondraj Kase(1) scored. Anaheim was 1/1 for the Power Play.

But the Sharks would answer back when Captain Joe Pavelski made a beautiful pass to Rookie Tyler Adams for his first Career Goal to tie it up.

The Rookie was mobbed by his Teammates on the bench.

"Surreal feeling!" Adams said with a smile.

In the Second Period, the Ducks took the lead when Adam Henrique(1) scored on a slapshot that got past Goaltender Martin Jones. This was the last time Anaheim saw the scoreboard as Martin Jones then turned away the Ducks.

Fellow Sharks Rookie, Justin Callahan(1) scored his first Career Goal to tie the game at 2.

"Tough loss for us tonight. We just didn't have the momentum to keep up." Ducks Head Coach Randy Carlyle stated.

San Jose ran away with the game in the Third Period. Barclay Goodrow(1) broke the tie with a wraparound goal beating Ducks Netminder John Gibson to the net.

John Gibson struggled against the Sharks Offense allowing all 5 Goals and had 21 saves. Tim Heed picked up an Assist when Kevin LaBanc scored. In the final 30 seconds, Gustav Nyquist passed to Logan Couture(1) for the 5-2 victory.

San Jose(1-0-0) will begin a 5 Game Road Trip when they head to Los Angeles to meet their hated rivals, the L.A Kings on Friday Night.

LOS ANGELES KINGS: Drew Doughty "Fuck San Jose."

10/5/18

L.A Kings Star Defenseman, Drew Doughty had some choice words for the San Jose Sharks ahead of the two Team's first meeting this young Season.

The Los Angeles Kings are set to open up their 2018-2019 campaign against a hated rival, the San Jose Sharks.

Kings Defenseman Drew Doughty is known for taking shots at the Sharks over the years as the two clubs have serious history.

"We don't like San Jose. There's bad blood there and I don't like them. That's a Team that I have no respect for. The Players sure. But in terms of rivalries, San Jose is probably our biggest. Fuck San Jose." Doughty stated in an interview.

The LA Kings beat the Sharks in Game 7 back in 2013 in the second round and Los Angeles would become the 4th Team in NHL History to come back from a 3-0 Series deficit.

San Jose humiliated the Kings at series' start, beating them 6-3 and 7-2 before eking out a 4-3 OT victory in Game 3. But the Kings fairly cruised in the remaining games, never winning by less than three and taking Game 7 by a 5-1 count.

Goaltender Jonathan Quick was the difference-maker, allowing two goals over the final three contests. Center Anze Kopitar exploded for four goals and six assists on the series, while playoff reliable Justin Williams also scored four times.

"There's history there between us. We don't like each other it's simple as that." Doughty added.

San Jose did get a little taste of payback in 2016 however when the Sharks beat the Kings in 5 Games in the first round.

Tonight, the Kings host the Sharks in their opener at Staples Center.

San Jose beat Anaheim 5-2 on Wednesday Night.
