Justin Herbert leads GW drive against Titans to advance to AFC Championship Game
Cam Ward and Justin Jefferson seemingly had their signature moment in their first season as a duo, rallying back from a two possession fourth quarter deficit to take the 32-28 lead and two minutes away from making it to the AFC Championship Game.
Justin Herbert had other ideas, finally securing the playoff performance that has eluded him in his career as he led the Los Angeles Chargers down the field with four straight completions to get the ball in a goal to go situation with no timeouts left where he would find Treylon Burks, the former Titan draft pick, for the game winning touchdown with seven seconds left to beat the Titans 35-32.
The Chargers and Herbert had seemingly choked the game away on their previous possession when on fourth and two from the Titans 33-yard line with a chance to make it a six point game, the Chargers opted to go for it with Herbert failing to complete the pass. Ward and the Titans would convert two third downs to get into scoring range and when faced with fourth and one from the 15-yard line after failing to score twice at the goal line on fourth down previously, they would hand it off to Jam Miller for the conversion.
Two plays later, Ward found Jefferson for what looked like the game winner. Ward finished the game with a playoff career high 384 yards and two touchdowns while Herbert threw for 357 yards with two touchdowns as well. Jefferson had nine catches for 156 yards and two scores and Omario Hampton, who scored the first two touchdowns of the game for the Chargers, finished with three touchdowns and 115 yards rushing, including a 39-yarder right before the half that got the Chargers into scoring position.
