interesting team choice. IRL, they recruit Florida pretty heavily so you should have the state as a pipeline early on. being indy also allows you to schedule a pretty fun schedule year in and year out until/if you decide to join a P4
transfer portal ftw. schedule is pretty lame this year tho. hopefully we can work our way into the acc in time.

UConn football adds handful of power-conference transfers, including a former top-10 QB recruit

A look at the transfer portal additions UConn football has made since spring
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
By Jameson O'Connelly-Copely | UConn Football Insider

After the recent signing day and the end of transfer departure announcements, UConn football is working to fill out its ranks. It made five key additions recently in the highly-touted transfer quarterback Nick Evers, long snapper Logan Frederic, WR/RB Keegan Jones, and receivers Skyler Bell and TJ Sheffield.

Let’s learn a little bit more about the newest Huskies:

Nick Evers, QB - Wisconsin

Nick Evers, a four-star recruit from the Class of 2022 who started his career at Oklahoma before transferring to Wisconsin last year, has announced his commitment to UConn.

The 6-foot-3 Texas native has only thrown one collegiate pass but comes to Storrs with the strongest pedigree of any incoming signal caller in recent memory and was a top-10 quarterback coming out of the Class of 2022.

His addition may also make UConn a desirable destination for more portal recruits as the Huskies look to further bolster their roster this summer.

Keegan Jones, WR/RB - UCLA

Jones is a former three-star wide receiver who received offers from Michigan, Baylor, and UCLA coming out of the Class of 2018. Jones spent four seasons at UCLA, playing in both the wide receiver and running back positions, and seeing solid playing time in both.

Over his four seasons, he had 34 receptions for 358 yards (10.5 YPC), four receiving touchdowns, as well as 128 carries for 623 yards (4.9 YPC) and five rushing touchdowns. While he has a smaller frame at 5-foot-10, 185 pounds, his speed more than makes up for it.

Logan Frederic, LS - TCU

Logan Frederic was a three-sport athlete in high school, participating in track and lacrosse, and captain of his football team, making first-team all-conference in 2021 as a member of the Class of 2022.

At the Kohl’s professional camps, Frederic had a standout event, performing well enough to be the 14th-best ranked long-snapper there. He sat behind TCU starter Brent Matiscik in 2023. Per his Twitter, he has four years of eligibility remaining.

Skyler Bell, WR - Wisconsin

Skyler Bell is a former three-star recruit with ties to Connecticut. The 6-foot, 195-pound receiver from Taft School (CT) committed to Wisconsin out of the Class of 2021. He played in three seasons, accruing 69 receptions for 755 receiving yards (10.9 AVG), with six receiving touchdowns, and also had 13 rushes for 160 yards in 2022. He also was a teammate of incoming QB transfer, Nick Evers.

UConn offered Bell in high school, as did Iowa, Northwestern, Virginia, and Penn State, among others. He was the 124th-ranked wide receiver in the 2021 class and should add some playmaking ability to the UConn offense along with Jones.

TJ Sheffield, WR - Purdue

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Thompson's Station, Tennessee is a former class of 2019 prospect, who ranked as a 5.6, three-star recruit and chose the Boilermakers over the likes of 17 other offers from programs such as Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, UNC and several others.

After redshirting in year one and not playing much in year two, Sheffield went on to become a solid contributor for the Boilermakers throughout the last three seasons, combining for 114 receptions for 1,186 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.

With the addition of Sheffield, he becomes the third wide receiver to join the Huskies via the portal this offseason joining Bell and Jasiah Gathings (Akron). Sheffield will have one year remaining to play with the Huskies.
