excited to see how you keep building the Broncos after back to back Nattys. Are you still leaning heavy in the portal, or trying to stick with more of your own guys now?

Well I have found success on the field, I have not had the same luck with in-season recruiting.. In fact this year I only landed 4 players in-season and had just 12 players left on my Top-25 Big Board. I ended up with 10 High School Recruits and just 7 players from the transfer portal. I missed out on both 5* High school kids I wanted including a QB and I missed out on 7 players in the Portal who would have been huge pieces to keeping me in he hunt for a 3rd Natty..

Next year's roster will be thin, which is crazy to think about coming off back to back Natty's.

BOISE STATE THE NEXT RBU!!!

Boise State since 1997 with Brock Forsey (the first RB I personally remember as fan in my early 20's) has produced 15 RB's who have produced 1000+ yd seasons with many greats moving on to play at the NFL level including Ashton Jeanty who produced one of the greatest seasons of all time in 2024 rushing for 2601 yds..

Since the departure of Jeanty, BSU has brought in a veteran RB from the transfer Portal for the past 5 seasons to help Sire Gaines continue to carry the load/tradition, including Bo Jackson a former Ohio State/San Jose State/San Diego State transfer who excelled his past season as the Broncos #1 RB replacing Gaines (3rd round pick) with over 1900 yds and 29 TD's.

However the 2030 season will not feature a transfer RB on the Boise State roster.. Instead Coach Matt Miller is rolling the dice and will be using a True Freshman in his backfield as RB1 as 5* Recruit Brian Crum takes over.. Crum the #5 Overall Recruit in this year's class was Utah's Gatorade POY (#1 UT).. Listed at 5'11 215lbs, Crum has already produced 4 straight 1000 yd seasons at the high school level now the question is can he do it at the next level

If Crum falters he will have plenty of help in the backfield as BSU also lands 4* Jabari Neighbors (#47 Overall/#7 FL/#5 RB) as well as returns backfield loaded with young talent including a trio of Redshirt Sophomores and a pair of Redshirt Freshman also looking o make their mark.

With the graduation of Jackson, RS SO Jermarcus Boykins (81 Ovr) will be the veteran on the team.. Boykins last season had 93 carries for 471 yds (5.1 avg) with 3 TD's well also posting 48 receptions for 486 yds and 2 scores in addition to 23 KR for 464 yds and giving him over 1400 yds All-Purpose.

BRONCOS SAY GOODBYE TO 28

Coach Matt Miller will be looking to fill 28 roster spots this off-season and with a early recruiting class of just 4 players, he will have his work cut out for him. Miller has made a name for himself with the Transfer Portal landing 10+ players from the Portal the past 3 seasons as Head Coach including a transfer portal class that ranked #3 last season. Since 2025 Boise State has recruited a Top-25 Class in every season with Miller on staff and this season many expect Miller to repeat that performance especially with 5* RB Tim Crum already committed.. The D-Line and Secondary is hit hard with graduations, with the entire starting secondary gone and should be key positions for Miller to focus on the Defensive side of the ball. On Offense Miller will look to replace both his #2 and #3 QB's Todd a former 4* transfer from USC started the year as QB1 in Week 1/2 before Draft took over. after Todd threw 5 INT's in the first 2 games. Epenesa is a former 3* Recruit who played well in his limited PT this past season throwing for over 100 yds in the Broncos Week 1 win over Nevada.

BRONCOS LAND TOP-25 CLASS

Coach Matt Miller went into the off-season with just 4 recruits signed but came away with 6 more high school recruits in the off-season and landed 7 players from the transfer portal giving him a total of 17 players (1-5*, 8-4*, 8-3*) finishing ranked #25 Overall and #6 in the Pac-12.

5* RB Brian Crum (#5 Overall/#1 RB) headlines the class along with 4* RB Jabari Neighbors who was a Top-50 Overall recruit., but Miller also landed a pair of Top-100 Recruits on the O-Line (#40 Overall Reggie Uzomah and #72 Overall David Battles).

Miller who has made of name of himself with the transfer portal bringing in key starters who have helped BSU to 3 straight Pac-12 titles and back to back Natty's did it again. Miller "Obviously we are disappointed we didn't do better.. Harris would've given us a perfect replacement for Draft should he leave early for the NFL next season. Crews would've been a instant 4 year starter at FS and Straus could've been a solid player on either side of the ball. Every player we offered and lost out on in the Portal we viewed as impact guy's who could've helped us continue our quest for the 3--Peat. Cargile/Crook/Skura would've been the perfect trio to replace Fogg/Riggins at WR with Bettis.. Freeman/Dillard would've been our Top-2 CB's and Westerman and Creer both would've been instant starters on our 0-Line.
