Cam Ward and the Titans agree to seven year, $510 million extension to become second highest paid player in NFL history
The Tennessee Titans have agreed to a seven year, $510 million deal with franchise quarterback Cam Ward to keep the former number one overall pick in Nashville.

Ward was entering the final year of his deal after the Titans didn't pick up his fifth-year option in an effort to expedite a long term extension which they were able to get done. Negotiations were initially put on hold according to reports at the start of training camp but resumed earlier this week where both sides were able to come to an agreement which sees Ward sign the second largest contract in NFL history, trailing only Lamar Jackson's $560 million contract that he signed last year.

The deal comes with $328 million guaranteed with Ward set to make $80.9 million next season, trailing only Jackson and Josh Allen.

While Ward did not reset the market with Jackson remaining as QB1, his guaranteed dollars are the most in the NFL and his deal bested Jayden Daniels' $406 million extension that he signed last year. Caleb Williams has yet to sign his extension and Joe Burrow has two years left in his deal while Jalen Hurts is on the final year of his contract with all three likely looking at Ward's contract as the template.
