5-star RB Sammy Ramey commits to Miami: 'It felt like home for me down there'
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports Miami Insider
IMG Academy standout running back Sammy Ramey started picking up offers in the eight grade. Over 40 schools offered the five-star and after visiting Coral Gables for the first time, he has committed to Miami.
“I just couldn’t leave and not commit,” Ramey told 247. “It was my first time there, so I had to see how I felt, but I just got that feeling down there. It's a lot like [IMG] where it's just straight up dogs and ballers at every position, no puppies in that running back room and I just felt at home."
The Missouri native was long rumored t be an Oklahoma lean with the Irish having an outside shot at landing his commitment but once Miami got the momentum, even after signing another running back in Broderick Booker, it was all Hurricanes in his recruitment, cancelling his scheduled visit to see the Irish.
The highest ranked running back that Mario Cristobal has ever signed at Miami, Ramey has shades of Aidan Teague in his game with the ability to take a simple pass in the flats eighty-yards for the touchdown while also showing elite contact balance when running through tacklers.
With his commitment, Miami now has three of the top five players in the country committed to them in Ramey, his IMG teammate Alex York and Arizona linebacker Brian Baskett.

Miami overcomes slow start to blow out rival Virginia Tech in the second half
For the first time in a long while, the Miami Hurricanes were trailing for most of the first half and even after tying the game with 1:53 remaining in the second quarter, Virginia Tech's ball control offense would continue to find success, matriculating down the field to retake the lead with Sam Office's second field goal of the day.
The lead lasted only thirteen seconds as in the final seconds of the first half, Davon Momah got behind the Hokies defense for a 77-yard score that took the air out of Lane Stadium and would begin a 35-0 run by the Hurricanes to blow out Virginia Tech 45-20 on Saturday.
Virginia Tech quarterback Jason Spriggs rushed for 50 yards in the first half but once Miami deployed a spy on the elusive senior, he was held to negative rushing yards in the second half, being sacked twelve times by the 'Canes defense. Spriggs was stripped of the football in the fourth quarter and Paul Rhinehart returned it for a touchdown.
The Hokies' rushing defense was able to slow down Miami's rushing game but had no success in the air as the Canes averaging 11.3 yards per pass, including touchdowns of 52 and 38 yards in the fourth quarter to help put the game away. Hurricanes strengthen their case for greatest class ever with two more five-star commitment from Jay Pierschbacher, Karl Tuten
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports Miami Insider
The Miami Hurricanes have landed their tenth and eleventh five-star commitment of the 2030 recruiting cycle, ensuring that the Hurricanes will sign at least a third of the available five-stars this year. The latest to jump on board Miami's vaunted recruiting class were offensive tackle Jay Pierscbacher and defensive tackle Karl Tuten.
Miami's coaching staff value Pierscbacher's versatility and project him to be able to play all five positions along the offensive line at the next level, which is one of the reasons that they still made him a priority after signing two other five-star tackles in Quentin Washington and Lyle Rasmussen. The vision is for Pierscbacher, Washington and Rasmussen to be part of a unit that features the team's best five players up front and figuring out which position fits them the best.
Miami offensive line coach Alex Mirabal has a proven track record of doing just that with starting right guard Richard Cookus coming to Miami as an offensive tackle and starting right tackle Damian Carmona came to Miami as a guard.
A position switch might be in the future for Tuten too who is a bit lighter at 287 pounds for a defensive tackle and could end up playing the five-technique in Miami's 3-4 scheme, similar to Shaun Turner, who was a five-star defensive tackle coming out of high school as well and made the switch to defensive end in Miami's base defense. Tuten is an effective pass rusher and is incredibly disruptive from the interior so we could still see him take some snaps on the inside in obvious passing situations.
The Hurricanes beat out Kentucky for Pierscbacher and bested Georgia and Tennessee for Tuten.

Florida State tests rival Miami but the Hurricanes prevail 27-20 in overtime
The Miami Hurricanes faced their first real adversity of the season, unable to put rival Florida State away as the Seminoles pushed them into overtime. If overtime is any indication of how this version of the Hurricanes handle being tested, it bodes well for their chances to win back-to-back national championships as the Canes made quick work of the Seminoles in overtime, scoring with ease and forcing a four-and-out to secure the 27-20 victory.
The Canes explosive offense looked like it was en route to its regularly scheduled programming when it went down the field in less than forty seconds in the final drive of the first half to retake the lead with an eleven yard completion from Keke Hagg to Davon Momah. Miami then opened the second half with a 66-yard completion to Max North but penalties continued to plagued the Hurricanes, taking them out of field goal range. The Hurricanes were called for twelve penalties for 98 yards, seven of them coming against the offensive line with right tackle Damian Carmona being called for five of them, including three on a single drive.
Miami head coach Mario Cristobal called it an unacceptable performance from his offensive line, who also allowed seven sacks. It was a team-high for the Hurricanes under Cristobal, who has prioritized the offensive line on the recruiting trail.
Both offenses were shutout in the third quarter and Miami seemed ready to put the game away when they got the ball inside Florida State's 20-yard line with less than three minutes to go but were forced to settle for a field goal. Jaden Durbin would lead his second touchdown drive of the game, draining the clock in the process and leaving just fifteen seconds left in the game when he completed the touchdown pass to Hakeem Enagbare.
It only took the Hurricanes five plays to find the endzone in the first overtime as Aidan Teague punched it in from eight yards out on second and goal. FSU's receivers would drop passes on second and third down to lead to fourth and four where Durbin tried to scramble out of the pocket but was sacked for the fourth time. Scoring Summary Quarter 1 Kaseem Dalton, 1 Yd run (5:31) Devon Obi, 43 Yd FG (0:04)
