Huge win, congratulations on the ACC title. That’s why you were brought to Stanford.

I have almost no control of the defense lmao I can only user one player (who made the tackle/PBU on the previous play) and I cannot user switch or leave my pre-play assignment so it really depends on how my AI teammates are feeling that dayCaptain Canada wrote: ↑10 Dec 2025, 13:57Clown college defense over here playing with my winning percentage![]()

The Victory Lap: Stanford makes their case for a playoff bye, Mack is back and award season

If this is Stanford's last ACC game, they certainly went out with a bang.
The Cardinal dominated SMU and avenged their only loss of the season in a 42-19 drubbing that not only won the school's first ever ACC Championship but also clinched their ticket to the College Football Playoffs and are now likely looking at a first-round bye.
Stanford came into the weekend behind Georgia, SMU, USC and Alabama as the fifth-seed, which would have them play in line to play the G6 auto-bid, which likely will be James Madison after Western Kentucky losing in the conference championship game.
Alabama beat Georgia and Stanford beat SMU so in theory, the Cardinal could rise as high as No. 2, swapping places with SMU. Now, the Mustangs were undefeated and Georgia was No. 1 so how far they drop remains to be seen but a top-four finish is likely for the Cardinal as the top-four will be some version of Alabama, USC, Stanford and/or Georgia or SMU with Stanford perhaps having the narrow edge over SMU despite splitting the season series.
The extra week of rest will be great for a team that has been hampered by injuries down the stretch.
Bubba Mack quietly signed five-year extension
With Brian Kelly being hired by the New York Giants, some wondered if Stanford head coach Bubba Mack might be a candidate for that opening but it was quickly reportedly shortly after that Mack had signed a five-year extension last week.
Mack's name had been linked to openings in Colorado and Florida State, as well as Georgia Tech (lol), but according to the On3 report, the extension had been in the works for the last month and was signed prior to the team traveling to Charlotte.
This should bring some stability during a very important month and a half for the Cardinal as they look to make a playoff push.
Three Stanford Cardinal among award finalists
The finalists for the College Football Awards have been announced and among them are three Stanford Cardinal.
As expected, running back Trumaine Lasike is a finalist for the Heisman, Maxwell, Walter Camp, and Doak Walker. Linebacker Manu Toomer is a finalist for the Bednarik, Nagurski and Butkus while running back Anthony Masifilo is a finalist for the Jet Award, given to the best special teams returner.
Lasike has 1,969 yards and twenty five touchdowns on the year and Manu Toomer leads the nation with 29 tackles for loss along with 112 tackles and three interceptions. Masifilo, who has an outside chance at cracking 1,000-yards as a rusher as well in the postseason, averages 18.4 yards per kick return and 12.8 yards per punt return.

Five-star running back Malik Marshall won't sign during Early Signing Period
Chris Wallace -- 247Sports Stanford Football Insider
After both fans of Notre Dame and Stanford spent all week waiting for the notification that never came, five-star running back Malik Marshall finally broke his silence on Friday to announce that he won't be signing during the Early Signing Period and will wait until February to make his decision.
It was a quiet Early NSD for the Cardinal who got the signed LOI from all of their commits, including three-star linebacker Jaron Azumah who was their latest get, beating out Nevada for his signature. Azumah is a six-foot-two, 224 pound prospect that projects as a weak-side linebacker for the Cardinal and a similar athletic profile to Manu Toomer at this point their development.
While Azumah might not become an All-American like Toomer, he has the traits that this coaching staff values at linebacker and they view him as an underrated prospect and internally graded him out as a top-end four-star.
Stanford remains confident in their pursuit of Marshall, who had been trending towards Notre Dame recently and view the delay as a positive development as they'll be playing in the playoffs and Notre Dame will not.
The Cardinal currently have the 12th ranked class in the conference and the 58th ranked recruiting class in the country.

Stanford to rejoin Pac-12 in all sports except football
Michael Harrell
December 12, 2030, 10:19 AM ET

Stanford is headed back to the Pac-12 — at least in almost every sport.
The university announced Monday that it will rejoin the Pac-12 beginning in 2031 for all sports except football, a move that comes as the ACC faces a wave of departures and rising concerns over long-distance travel burdens placed on athletes. Stanford football, meanwhile, will operate as an independent, positioning the program for a major media-rights deal expected to be completed in the coming months.
The shift ends the Cardinal’s brief stint in the ACC, a partnership that became increasingly untenable as Florida State, Clemson, Miami, SMU and California moved toward new league homes. With the conference’s stability in doubt and its geographic footprint primarily being on the east coast, Stanford officials acknowledged the heavy travel demands played a decisive role in the school’s exit.
“Competitive fit matters, but travel strain matters too,” an athletic department source told ESPN. “We were asking our teams to fly cross-country in every sport. That wasn’t sustainable.”
Under the new alignment, Stanford’s 34 non-football programs will return to the Pac-12’s more regionally sensible structure, joining a league that has rebuilt itself following years of realignment upheaval. For football, however, the Cardinal will take a page from Notre Dame’s playbook.
Stanford is already deep in discussions on a broadcasting agreement that would anchor its football independence, with NBC seen as the most likely partner, sources said. NBC’s long-standing relationship with Notre Dame — and its interest in adding more Saturday inventory — makes it a natural fit. CBS, FOX and even ESPN remain involved in conversations, though ESPN is considered “less likely” given its expanding SEC commitments.
