Hurricanes land first five-star of their recruiting class with big time commitment from Jamie Stumph
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports Miami Insider
The best player in the state of Florida is staying home as five-star Jamie Stumph, the number two ranked player according to the 247 Sports Composite rankings, has announced his commitment to the Miami Hurricanes.
Stumph, who hails from Daytona Beach, picked the Hurricanes over Florida State, Georgia and UCF. This is an impressive haul for the Hurricanes as they keep South Florida's top talent away from their rival Florida State and end a streak of in-state battle losses to the Georgia Bulldogs, who have landed their fair share of impressive wins on the recruiting trail against the Hurricanes, including Miami native Alex Tercero who was the top ranked player in the country two years ago and signed with the Bulldogs.
While Stumph might lack the ideal length at EDGE, he makes up for it with his strength, explosiveness and already wide array of pass rushing moves as a high school player. He's not just a pass rusher either, showing effectiveness against the run both as an edge setter and also in pursuit when running down plays from the backside. Stumph fits Miami's base 3-4 perfectly with his abilities as a pass rusher allowing him to play defensive end on four-man fronts as well.

Miami bolsters secondary with additions of four-star safety Rico Kush, cornerback Roy Talbott
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports Miami Insider
Four-star safety Rico Kush (Belle Glade, Fla.) and three-star cornerback Roy Talbott (Venice, Fla.) have both committed to the University of Miami, increasing the Hurricanes' lead as the top ranked recruiting class in the country. It brings Miami's total to now seven blue-chip prospects on board with Kush and Talbott being the first secondary players.
The fifth ranked strong safety in the class, Kush is one of South Florida's fastest players with a blazing 10.5 PR on the 100-meters as a track athlete which is incredibly impressive at 200-plus pounds. There's a lot to love about Kush as he's a natural in coverage with his background as a cornerback at the youth level before making the transition to safety. The only concern about Kush is that despite his size, he needs to improve on his tackling and overall physicality. At this point in his development, he is more of a finesse player and the Hurricanes ask a lot from their safeties in terms of run support.
The same can be said of Talbott, whose listed weight of 177 pounds might be overstated. The Hurricanes are taking a gamble on Talbott, viewing him as a project with high upside due to his length, speed and natural coverage abilities as they were his only D-I offer.

Orlando area receiver Silas Soroh commits to the Hurricanes despite push from Utah
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports Miami Insider
The University of Miami has landed a commitment from four-star receiver Silas Soroh, who picked the Hurricanes over Utah in an announcement on Friday evening.
Soroh, the 26th ranked receiver in the country, was expected to visit the Utes this weekend on an official visit but cancelled his visit heading into his high school football game on Friday night, where he announced his commitment to the Hurricanes at halftime. He is the second receiver in Miami's class, joining three-star Rasheem Pelshak. The two share a lot of similarities with two pounds separating them along with a similar playing style.
Ideally, the Hurricanes would love to pair Soroh and Pelshak, two jump ball specialists that rely on their physicality to win matchups, with another tree climber in Ezekiel Hooey, the five-star receiver that stands at six-foot-five. Both UCF and Florida are eager to get Hooey on campus as so far, he's only visited the Hurricanes unofficially and has alluded to a potential fall visit at some point this season.

Miami pulls away late to down Texas 41-19 after shaky third quarter
On paper, there's not much that separates the talent on Miami's sideline and the one on the Texas Longhorns', both programs filling their respective coffers to the brim with elite in-state talent and a collection of blue chip out-of-state prospects.
When it mattered the most, however, Miami showed why they are a national championship contender and why Texas, despite the talent, remain unranked with Max North exploding for a 68-yard touchdown in the first half to begin Miami's dominance and when things got tight, Javier Torrez ripped off a 84-yard touchdown as the Hurricanes took care of Texas 41-19 on Texas for their third SEC win already.
Back-to-back turnovers on a fumble and then an interception allowed Texas to make it a game in the second half after trailing 21-3, scoring ten points off those turnovers to make it a one possession game heading into the fourth quarter.
On just his second carry of the game, Torrez took off on Texas' defense, going 84-yards untouched to extend the lead with nine minutes left. Texas' offense continued to struggle before David Free, trailing by two possessions with less than two minutes left, threw a pick six to Bobby Haslam to seal the loss.
