The Victory Lap: They were supposed to be SEC, shoutout to Alex Rowe and expect recruiting to pick up

LSU head coach Lane Kiffin is getting a lot of flak and maybe deservingly so after waving the white flag at halftime against Stanford amidst the 59-17 drubbing the Tigers received but it was the right move.

Stanford thoroughly dominated LSU and the final box score feels like a comedy bit. Stanford scored more points (59) than LSU had plays (51). The Cardinal had nearly as many third and fourth down conversions (9) as LSU first downs in total (12) and probably the most damning stat for LSU, Kiffin and the SEC as a whole is that LSU, as a team, averaged 0.1 yards per rush.

Florida, the other SEC team Stanford played, ran for just 57 yards on the ground and in both of those games, Stanford rushed for a combined 574 yards. Those two games alone would put Stanford in the top five in the SEC for rushing offense this season.

Alex Rowe gets his revenge against Ohio State
While the loss hurt Stanford's strength of schedule, the Buckeyes dropped a second straight game, this time to Houston as Rowe threw for 373 yards and two touchdowns as he got payback against the team that injured his knee and ended his season last year.

Stanford made the right decision at quarterback but Rowe, after struggling against Auburn, has bounced back nicely.

He threw for 395 yards and four touchdowns the next week, albeit against an FCS opponent, but the standout performance against Ohio State shows that he is capable of those and while Earl Nienhuis may be better, Rowe is a really good quarterback and someone Stanford fans should root for.

Recruiting to pick up during the bye week
After surviving, no, thriving in the first section of the season, Stanford gets a much deserved and needed bye but its no rest for the coaching staff.

They're hosting four-star safety Marco Stick, four-star offensive tackle Ashton Bayless, four-star center Alex DiMarco and four-star receiver Damien Yeboah.

Yeboah, an Oklahoma native, would be a huge step in helping land five-star quarterback George Ogbonnaya who is set to visit in two weeks. We've seen how pivotal that slot receiver is in this offense and Yeboah would probably be the most talented slot receiver that Stanford has signed in recent years with a ton of upside and physical tools.

Throw Rowe to the curb but then tell the fans to cheer for him. That's ruthless.

Mater Dei five-star safety Nick Vincent releases updated top five as interstate battle looms
Chris Wallace -- 247Sports Stanford Football Insider

Five-star safety Nick Vincent will be playing his college football in the West Coast, that much is clear, and most likely in the state of California. Vincent released an updated top five with Stanford, UCLA, USC, Boise State and Arizona State listed.

Vincent is the second ranked safety in the country and the twelfth ranked player in the country and the top defensive priority for Stanford's coaching staff this cycle. Vincent, who has yet to visit Stanford, told CBS Sports that he has visits scheduled to Stanford, USC and Boise State and is working on finalizing a visit with UCLA.

The Cardinal are keen on pairing Vincent with four-star safety Marco Stick out of Lakewood, California which would net them their best safety pairing in the Mack era from a recruiting standpoint. Both players are over six-foot and two hundred pounds as we've seen an increased emphasis on adding size to the secondary with the transfer portal addition of Mike Thomas (6'3", 234lbs) and the high school signing of Jaron Azumah (6'2", 224lbs).
