Miami loses a tough home game against Virginia Tech
A struggling offensive line. A true freshman at quarterback. All things that Miami managed to overcome throughout the season to remain undefeated.

It's all come crashing down.

Virginia Tech thoroughly dominating the Hurricanes on Saturday, intercepting true freshman quarterback Tyrone Williams' four times, returning his last one for a touchdown in the resounding 36-15 win.

Miami head coach Manny Diaz's decision to not sit Williams after his third first half interception is a decision that will be scrutinized for weeks in Coral Gables. Diaz eventually did replace Williams with redshirt junior N'kosi Perry who led a touchdown drive but ultimately threw an interception himself on his final drive.

Miami is still in the race for the Coastal despite their second straight loss to a divisional foe thanks to Georgia Tech losing this week as well.

‣ Miami's disaster of a weekend seeps into recruiting

Two-star JUCO quarterback John Harrison committed to Miami on Sunday and three-star offensive guard Marcus May joined him.

That is the only good news that came from what was supposed to be a great weekend for Miami on the recruiting front.

Five-star receiver Ryan Barr described his visit as 'okay' during an interview and stated that USC is still the team to beat with the top player in the country scheduled to visit them later this month where he will be on commit watch. Tight end Kevin Sanders, a four-star that Miami grossly misplayed throughout the process, committed to Notre Dame without ever visiting Miami on Sunday.

Three-star offensive tackle Christian Perry left campus without a commitment and still leaning South Carolina while Evan Pierce, the four-star defensive end, cancelled his visit and released his top two with just Buffalo and Florida State.

Miami might also need to cut their losses when it comes to four-star corner Chris Martinez as he also was disappointed during his visit and called it underwhelming.

Miami at North Carolina Preview
Adriana Edwards - Dynasty Sports Staff Writer

Miami started their season on top of the world, rising to a top-two ranking in the country. North Carolina started their season 0-3, losing four of their first five games. North Carolina (6-4, 4-3 ACC) is now winners of five-straight while Miami is hanging for dear life after losing their last two games.

The Hurricanes (No. 14 BCS, 8-2, 5-2 ACC) are still in the hunt for the Coastal with a two-team tie at the top of the division with Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech just a half game back. Given Miami's loss to both teams, a loss in the next two weeks against North Carolina and Pittsburgh could end their Coastal hopes.

Manny Diaz announced on Thursday that true freshman Tyrone Williams will get the start, despite throwing four interceptions in the loss to Virginia Tech last week.

The Tar Heels are still in the Coastal hope but they'll need help. With a win and a Georgia Tech loss, they'll be tied with the Hurricanes for the second seed in the Coastal. The Tar Heels will then need Virginia Tech to lose to Virginia and Miami to lose to Pittsburgh as North Carolina would win the tie breaker over the Hokies. Got it? Good.

North Carolina Schedule
at #12 Notre Dame: L 45-14
vs. #9 Florida State: L 31-27
at #6 Clemson: L 45-27
