huge game for both Wazzou and Trey Owens against Ohio State. He needed that game to right the ship and as you said, statement win for the program.

Top-5 win for the program for sure.. I would say winning the Pac-12 title was probably #1, maybe the Apple Cup #2 but I would probably say this win ranks higher then the Bowl win or the win over Boise for sure.. And yes big game for Trey after his struggles.

COUGARS DOMINATE ROADRUNNERS IN WEEK 6
Washington State entered their Week 6 matchup with UTSA averaging just over 50 points (#1 in the nation) with a season high 59 points in their Week 1 loss to Stanford.. WSU would need just 1 half to almost match that total as they they score 8 times in the opening half against UTSA to take a commanding (56-7) lead into the locker room.
K-State transfer Clint Powell entered the game with just 1 rushing touchdown on the season but by the end of the game he had taken over the team lead.. Powell scored 3 times in the opening Quarter to give WSU a (28-0) lead. Powell would take a break and let QB Trey Owens take over in the 2nd Quarter as he throws a trio of touchdowns to Cory Izein (38 yds) Lester Creer (23 yds) and Brevin Doll (14 yds) before scoring his 4th touchdown to close out the 1st half scoring..
UTSA would open up the 2nd half with a 62 yd touchdown run by SR RB Harry Stewart III to make it (56-14). When WSU took the field,, backup QB Calin Loyd led the way as Owens took the rest of the game off. Loyd looked sharp in his 2nd appearance breaking free for a 23 yd run and completing 8/14 pass's for 92 yds but both drives would end without points as Adlai Lounsbury misses his first FG of the season (52 yd attempt) and Loyd's final pass of the night is picked off in the endzone .
Redshirt Freshman Johnathan Provo would take over at QB in the 4th and like Loyd Provo would play well completing 6/8 pass's (75%) for 83 yds including a 17 yd strike to Landon Wright who scores his first touchdown of the season but the day belonged to Clint Powell who would score 2 more times including a 33 yd run late in the 4th Quarter giving him 6 touchdowns on the day as he sets a new WSU single game record.

BEEP BEEP
I think your passing game gets a lot of attention, but your rushing attack has always been a driving force in the back ground as well
Cal looks like they're tough, but I haven't seen a good Golden Bears team yet in CFB

COUGARS CONTINUE TO SET RECORDS IN WEEK 7 VICTORY!!!
Washington State and Cal are 2 programs who expected big things this year but both schools have had some hiccups along the way.. Washington State coming off a Pac-12 Championship and their first win in 9 years started out slow losing 2 of their first 3 games well Cal jumped out to a 5-0 start including 3 Pac-12 victories.. However WSU came into the game having won 3 straight on the road well Cal was coming off a loss in which they gave up 62 points to UCLA showcasing a Defense that was struggling well the Cougars #1 Offense was coming off a 77 point performance against UTSA
The Cougar Offense wasted no time jumping out to a early (21-0) lead against the Bears as QB Trey Owens continues his run at a historic season at the helm throwing 3 touchdowns including a pair of bombs (46 yds to Pabst and 57 yds to Izien).
Both teams Defenses took the 2nd Quarter off turning the next 10 minutes into a fury of button pushing by the scoreboard officials and only a last second FG by the Bears seperated these 2 squads as WSU matches their 21 1st Quarter points to take a (42-24) lead into the half, as Owens throws 3 more touchdowns to finish with over 400 yds and 6 touchdowns.
Owens wasn't done though and neither was the Cougars as Owens throws 2 more scores in the 3rd Quarter as the Senior QB finishes the 3rd Quarter with a season/career high 671 yds and 8 TD's on the day extending the lead to (63-24).
Cal would open up the 4th Quarter scoring with a touchdown as backup QB Colton Cumino find SR Jordan Ross (84) on a 34 yd bomb for his 2nd touchdown of the game, but WSU wasn't done lighting up the scoreboard and setting a new season high as RB Brevin Doll takes over.
The Senior RB already with 3 touchdowns on the day (1 rushing 2 receiving) would slash through the Bears Defense scoring 3 times in the final 8 minutes of the game including a 13 yd run with just seconds to play despite WSU up (77-31)..
FINAL SCORE WASHINGTON STATE-84 CAL-31

Cal started out strong and played a great 2nd Quarter but not sure what they were doing for the other 3..
The Run Game has been pretty dominating and sets up the pass well. I use alot of Play action especially on my deep throws, but Owens had his struggles early and still has a throw here and there that I think what was I doing,.. I am hoping that at some point the CPU will overlook his INT's because his yards and touchdowns should have him in the Hesiman talk.

COUGARS MAKE IT 5 STRAIGHT IN WEEK 8 VICTORY OVER OREGON STATE
*Changed to 9 minute Quarters to try and slow down the WSU scoring attack*Washington State won their 5th straight improving to (4-1) in Pac-12 play well Oregon State dropped to (2-6) Overall and 0-5 in Pac-12 play just furth showcasing how these 2 schools have moved further apart from each other since helping rebuild the Pac-12.
WSU averaging over 80 points per game the past 2 games opened up with the ball and quickly scored a touchdown as Owens finds Cater Pabst on a 18 yd strike to open up the game.. WSU would then extend their lead as Owens and Missouri State transfer Cory Izien hookup for a 23 yd touchdown to give the Cougars a early (14-0) lead.
Oregon State would rally in the 2nd Quarter scoring 20 points to cut the lead to (21-20) with under 2 minutes to play in the half but Owens would extend the Cougars lead with a 32 yd touchdown to Deon Rugamba as the 4* RS Freshman scores his first career touchdown.
OSU would open up the 2nd half with the ball giving Oregon State a chance to cut into the lead but SO QB Larry Mobley (77) who played a almost perfect 2nd Quarter (11/14) would find Cougar CB Trey Poteat 1 on 1 on the the outside and Poteat would come away with the ball for the INT.
WSU however fails to convert the turnover into points as Owens follows up with a INT of his own. Still leading (28-20), WSU would finally extend their lead as RB Brevin Doll scores the first of (3) 4th Quarter touchdowns as he goes 62 yds for the longest run by a Cougar this season. Mobley and Oregon State would answer back though as Mobley and FR WR Jalen Carter hook up for a pair of touchdowns including a 46 yd bomb in the final 5 minutes to cut the lead to (45-34) but a fumble by backup RB A. Ashse (79) would set up Doll for his 3rd touchdown and the final score of the game.
OSU actually would finish the game with more Total Offensive Yards (571 to 526) and Mobley would finish with more passing yards then Owens (470 to 314).

UP NEXT
WSU with the win moves to #18 in the Top-25 rankings. The Cougars will look to extend their winning streak to 6 games as they host #7 (7-0) Boise State in what will be the first of a 4 game home stand.
Boise State is coming off a (42-10) win @ Fresno State as they take home the Milk Bowl Trophy. Now the question is can Moore and Miller end their former schools win streak and dreams of a Pac-12 title and playoff spot or will the Broncos find revenge after last year's loss on "The Blue" but likely ending any playoff dreams the Cougars have left.
RECRUITING NEWS
Coach Moore and Miller continue to their streak of landing a 4* WR for a 4th straight year. The duo landed Lester Creer in Year 1 and Creer has been unstoppable already breaking both WSU and Pac-12 records in his first 3 seasons. They then signed Rugamba (6 rec 90 yds 1 TD) and Calvin Wayne (3 rec 30 yds) in the 2026 class and followed it up landing Oscar Paul and Glenn Cronk last year.
Now joining the stables will be 4* Jordin Lockett (#347 Overall/#7 WA/#68).. Listed at 6'2 196lbs from Gig Harbor WA, Lockett had scholarship offers from USC and Oregon and was being scouted by Florida, Arkansas State and Alabama.
1 Player who will not be joining Lockett in Pullman next season is 4* QB Dillion Murphy (#85 Overall/#6 CA/#8 QB). Murphy was the Cougars #1 QB target and only QB target on their Top-25 board, but Murphy has elected to narrow his list down to just 2 schools moving forward. Stanford currently #1 and offering and Utah #2 offering and has a Week 10 schedule visit.

A TALE OF 2 HALVES IN WEEK 9
Today's matchup of #7 (7-0) Boise State vs #18 (6-2) Washington State could very well be a preview of this year's Pac-12 Championship unless something changes over the final month of the season..
WSU jumped out to a early (7-0) lead in the 1st Quarter as both team's offense's struggled early but Boise State would answer back and tie the game in the opening minutes of the 2nd Quarter to make it (7-7), as Sire Gaines breaks free for a 19 yd touchdown.. The run was just one of 4 carries on the day for Gaines who left the game early with former Washington transfer Quaid Carr taking over at RB.
After both teams traded FG's to make it (10-10), Washington State driving with under 2 minutes to play appeared to be in position to retake the lead before halftime but instead Trey Owens is picked off for his 12th INT of the season setting up a Boise State 42 yd FG by Oliver Castandeda giving BSU the (13-10) lead at the half.
BSU would then open up the 2nd half with the ball and quickly drove 80 yds as Tavien St. Clair finds Quimonte Williams Jr on a 15 yd scoring strike to give BSU the (20-10) lead less then 2 minutes into the 3rd Quarter.
The next 16 minutes belonged to Washington State though as the Cougars score 8 times including a trio of runs from Brevin Doll who was coming off his first 200 yd game last week.
Doll got things going with a 19 yd touchdown run to cut the lead to (20-17). then after a fumble by Card, WSU took over inside the 20 yd line and Doll wasted no time scoring touchdown #2 to give WSU the (24-20) lead. WSU would extend the lead with the first of 5 Touchdowns thrown by Owens in the final 10 minutes of the game, as Owens finds 5 different receivers on all 5 scores starting with a 20 yd strike to Cory Izien to make it (31-20) going into the 4th.
St Clair would throw a INT, Boise State would turn the ball over 4 times on downs in the 4th leading to Washington State's 5 touchdowns as WSU blows the game wide open with 622 yards of Offense (222 rushing, 400 passing) with 43 First Downs finishing the day 16/20 (80%) on 3rd Downs. and (1/1) on 4th.
St Clair finished the day 19/44 (43%) for 235 yds with the 1 TD and 1 INT. He also led the Broncos in rushing with 75 yds. Carr finished the day with just 43 yds on 11 carries with the fumble well Gaines had 43 yds and the touchdown on his 4 carries.
