Stanford continues to make case for playoff committee with another blowout win over a ranked opponent
Stanford coach Bubba Mack didn't shy away from it after the game, citing the playoff rankings and the need for Stanford to climb up in them in order to make the playoffs as a reason why Stanford left its starters in the game during the fourth quarter of their 62-10 win over Cal on Saturday.

"It's my understanding that margin of victory does matter," Mack said, "I don't like it, personally. I think we've shown enough to be worthy of a top ten spot but if this is what we need to do, this is what we will do."

The Cardinal faced little resistance on Saturday outside of the pouring rain and a coverage bust that resulted in Cal's only touchdown of the game in the third quarter. Shaquille Knight got the party started with a punt return and Rodney Cookus found the endzone in the second quarter for the first of three touchdown passes from Earl Nienhuis.

The running game did the rest to the tune of 12.8 yards per carry on the ground, totaling 411 yards with Anthony Masifilo rushing for 151 yards on just four carries.

It was a tough day for former Stanford quarterback Tevita Luck who completed just 47 percent of his passes before being pulled in the second half.
