Hoping Rueben Bain stays consistent in the backfield. More disruptors, the better :yep:

Examining the roster and the upcoming roster cuts ahead of the preseason finale
With two preseason games down and just one to go while training camp begins to wrap up, the picture for the Tennessee Titans’ 53-man roster is starting to become clearer.

The next big hurdle between after Saturday's game and the start of the regular season for the Titans and the rest of the NFL is cutdown day on Tuesday. Here, we’ll take a stab a predicting who will make and who will be left off the Titans’ 53-man roster at the most intriguing positions.

Quarterback
Safe: Cam Ward, Jake Browning
On the bubble: Jalen Milroe, Brandon Allen

This is quietly one of the more intriguing positions on the roster as there is a solid argument to be made for all three of the potential backups. Browning is the most expensive of the bunch and was brought in to be the backup only for the Titans to trade for Milroe and while it was a low draft pick, it was still capital that they spent on him.

The wild card is Allen who was last year's backup and had the best performance in the opener among the three backups so he has a solid case as well and has the most playing experience of the trio. It is hard to imaging that the Titans carry three let alone four quarterbacks so Milroe could be a practice squad candidate should the Titans want to risk it.

Running back
Safe: Tony Pollard, Tyjae Spears, Jam Miller
On the bubble: Kalel Mulling, Mark Fletcher Jr.
On the way out: Zavier Scott

They can't carry five running backs, right? Last season, by comparison, the Titans had just three healthy running backs on their active roster and then went out and drafted two guys in Miller and Fletcher. Miller is the higher draft pick so he gets the nod over Fletcher in terms of the 'safe' tag but both players should be in the same both.

Mullings has been pretty productive this season but he is a sixth round pick and wasn't very efficient last year as a rookie, averaging 3.1 yards per carry. He's made a solid case to make the roster but a rookie like Fletcher might have the edge as they just spent draft capital on him.

Wide Receiver
Safe: Calvin Ridley, Elic Ayomanor, Chimere Dike, Ja'Kobi Lane, Kavontae Turpin
On the bubble: Deion Burks
On the way out: Collin Johnson, Xavier Restrepo

The top four is clear in Ridley and Ayomanor being the clear-cut starters while Dike and Lane will likely battle it out for that third receiver spot. Turpin's special team ability also locks him a roster spot as he's a return specialist and anything that he does on offense is icing on the cake.

Now the wildcard this preseason has been Burks who flashed in the opener as a receiver and then showed he had some return ability in the game against Dallas. If he has a strong preseason finale, he could force the Titans to carry a sixth receiver and if they do, it'd be Burks over Restrepo who hasn't played much and doesn't bring as much special teams value.

Linebacker
Safe: Zaire Franklin, Nakobe Dean, Whit Weeks, Taurean York
On the bubble: James William Sr, Tanner Muse, Shaq Quarterman
On the way out: Jaylen Harrell, Dorian Mausi Jr, Cedric Gray

This group might have the most variance in terms of trying to predict what the final roster looks like. First, there's guessing how many linebackers they want to carry on the roster since this position group has a high special teams usage typically so you can see anywhere from four to seven players on the final roster.

Entering last week, Tanner Muse would have been on the way out but he got plenty of run with the second team, leapfrogging York who served that role in the opener. Williams was last year's starter for a good chunk of the season so he has a solid chance of making the roster and then Quarterman is a core special teams player. Likely only one of those three make the roster unless they decide to go light at safety or other positions that feed into special teams and if that's the case, there's no telling who that might be but Williams experience should get the edge.

Titans trade RB Tyjae Spears to Bears for three draft picks
The Tennessee Titans have traded running back Tyjae Spears to the Chicago Bears on Thursday in exchange for third-, fifth and seventh-round selections in the 2027 NFL draft.

Spears, a 2023 third-round pick out of Tulane, played a complementary role in Tennessee’s backfield in his first two seasons. He rushed for 1,186 yards and seven touchdowns in 34 games while also contributing as a receiver out of the backfield. An injury sidelined Spears for the 2025 season.

The move gives Chicago added depth behind starter D'Andre Swift, while Tennessee adds to their draft capital, giving the Titans eight projected picks in next year’s draft after previously having no picks beyond the fourth round.

you mean james williams bro lmao i just signed shaq.

Whit is actually Zaire's backup since he's a similar athlete to Zaire. I need at least one athletic LB on the field to cover TEs if we're in man
