Eugene, OR. - The Oregon Ducks may have snapped their two-game slide with last week’s 21-14 win over Washington State, but they quickly found out these Texas Longhorns are a different animal entirely.

For a moment, it looked like Oregon might make a game of it. The Longhorns held a slim 10-3 lead midway through the second quarter and the Oregon offense was driving after the only mistake of the afternoon from Emilio Delgado. But that brief glimmer of hope turned into a full-blown avalanche. By halftime, Texas had flipped the script and built a commanding 31-6 lead.

It started with Elias Pina’s costly fumble, which wiped out Oregon’s chance to capitalize on Delgado’s earlier turnover. Delgado responded with a crisp 8-yard slant to Prince Oluokon for the freshman's second touchdown pass of the day. On the Ducks’ next possession, Pina tossed a hurried interception, and Delgado wasted no time, launching a 61-yard bomb to John Silverman. Just like that, 10-3 became 24-3 in a blink.

The Longhorns weren’t finished. Delgado added a fourth touchdown before the half—this time on a 69-yard wheel route to tight end Heath Dalton—while Oregon scraped together a field goal as time expired to trail 31-6 at the break.

The Ducks showed some fight in the second half, with Pina delivering a highlight-reel 69-yard touchdown pass after slipping out of two would-be sacks. But every Oregon punch was met with an equal Texas counterpunch.

Delgado ended the night with a career-high six touchdown passes, spreading the wealth across a Longhorns offense that continues to look unstoppable. Meanwhile, Barry Orlovsky kept his historic season rolling with another 256 rushing yards. The senior back broke loose for a bruising 63-yard touchdown run in the third quarter—leaving a trail of Oregon defenders in his wake—to tie both Ricky Williams’ Texas single-season rushing TD record (28) and Derrick Henry’s SEC record.

“I’d love to get the record under the lights at DKR,” Orlovsky admitted postgame. “But that’d mean not scoring next week in Oxford."

I don’t see that happening," added the senior HB with a smirk.

While Texas and Orlovsky keep rolling, Ball State and Karlos Farris refuse to let up. The Cardinals stayed perfect at 8-0 after a 49-10 drubbing of Illinois, with Farris adding two more scores to his own Heisman-worthy season.

Next up for the Longhorns: a trip to Oxford, Mississippi, for their final road game of the regular season against Ole Miss (5-3).

Turnovers almost cost you against Ohio. Good teams find a way though :yup:
If we end up losing it will be because of turnovers. Delgado gets cold easily, especially on the road, and if the running game is getting stuffed and he's got to make magic against a top defense it may get ugly for us

Oxford, MS. - The Ole Miss Rebels came into Vaught-Hemingway Stadium determined to keep the Texas Longhorns from making history. But in the end, not even a packed box and a desperate defense could stop Barry Orlovsky from etching his name into the record books.

Orlovsky was steady on the ground early, churning out tough yards against a Rebel front geared entirely to stop him. With the focus on the Heisman frontrunner, Emilio Delgado took full advantage, tossing three first-half touchdowns to build a 21-7 lead. But with 18 seconds left in the half, the moment finally came.

“Orlovsky’s got it… this could be it. Barrels through one defender, stood up by the next… AND IN HE GOES!” thundered the Longhorns radio crew as the senior back muscled across the goal line for touchdown No. 29. “Barry Orlovsky pushes his way into history—he’s the new king of Texas and SEC rushing touchdowns in a season!”

Ole Miss had opened the game with a crisp, scripted drive, but once the Texas pass rush found its rhythm, the Rebels crumbled. Five first-half sacks suffocated the home team’s offense, and by halftime they trailed 28-7 with just 85 total yards to show for their effort.

The second half saw a surge from Ole Miss, as they racked up 252 yards of offense, but the story remained the same: Texas’ defensive front relentlessly pressured the quarterback, adding five more sacks and a late interception to keep the Rebels out of striking distance. A garbage-time touchdown was all Ole Miss could muster as the Longhorns closed out their 26th consecutive regular-season win.

Orlovsky wasn’t done making history either. Midway through the fourth, he broke loose on a weaving 51-yard dash to the end zone, bringing his season total to 30 rushing touchdowns. With the Texas and SEC records now his, the senior eyes Darryl Pope’s NCAA mark of 40 set during the former Ball State Cardinals 2032 Heisman campaign.

“He’s got a legitimate shot,” said Kirk Herbstreit in the booth. “He’s 11 away with at least three games left—probably more if Texas makes another deep playoff run. Two a game keeps him in striking distance.”

The yardage record may be out of reach however. Orlovsky sits at 1,774 rushing yards on the season, meaning he’d need nearly 1,200 more to catch Pope’s eye-popping 2,937.

“Even with a six-game stretch - including a postseason run to the National Championship, that’s asking 200 yards a game against elite defenses,” Herbstreit cautioned. “Never say never with this Texas squad, but that one might be too tall a mountain.”

Meanwhile, DE James Mosely continued his monster campaign with two more sacks, tying Alabama’s Grant Hidalgo for the national lead at 14.

In the Big Ten, Ball State stumbled for the first time this season in a 31-23 loss to Michigan. Two first-half interceptions from QB Jabari Okornokwo left the Cardinals staring at a 31-10 halftime deficit they couldn’t climb out of. Making matters worse, Karlos Farris was held without a touchdown for the first time all season as Orlovsky’s Heisman lead widened. The Cardinals now face a must-win against No. 2 Ohio State, who are undefeated in conference play this season, to keep their Big Ten title hopes alive.

Next up for Texas: a return to DKR Stadium for Senior Night and a rivalry showdown with Texas A&M (4-5). The Aggies are looking to play spoiler after last year’s humiliating 2-10 campaign.

Austin, TX. - The Texas A&M Aggies may have doubled their win total from a year ago, but they were no match for the machine that is Texas Football.

Behind another dominant effort from Barry Orlovsky and a record-setting performance from defensive end James Mosely, the top-ranked Longhorns crushed their bitter rivals 49-13 at DKR Stadium, improving to 11-0 on the season and extending their winning streak to 27 games.

Orlovsky opened the scoring with a pair of bruising first-quarter touchdowns, taking advantage of an early interception by A&M quarterback Tommy Marshall. Emilio Delgado took over in the second quarter, tossing three touchdown passes to push Texas out to a commanding 35-0 lead with under a minute to play in the half.

A&M finally found some momentum with a 13-0 scoring run bridging halftime and the third quarter, but it was short-lived. Orlovsky put the game away with two more touchdowns in the fourth, bringing his season total to 34 and putting him just six shy of Darryl Pope’s NCAA single-season record (40) set in 2032.

While the scoreboard briefly suggested life from the Aggies, the stat sheet told a different story. A&M mustered just 170 yards of total offense and was buried by a relentless Texas front that sacked Marshall nine times — including 5.5 sacks by James Mosely. The sophomore edge rusher set a new Texas single-game sack record and pushed his season total to 19.5, within striking distance of Kiki DeAyala’s school record of 23.

With the win, Texas improved to 84-23 all-time in the Lone Star Showdown and has now won four straight against the Aggies.

Elsewhere, Ball State rebounded from last week’s loss to Michigan with a critical 38-24 win over No. 2 Ohio State. Karlos Farris exploded for 240 receiving yards and three scores as the Cardinals climbed into a three-way tie atop the Big Ten East with Ohio State and Syracuse. With the head-to-head edge over the Buckeyes, Ball State controls its path to the Big Ten title — so long as it avoids an upset next week against Michigan State ahead of a potential division-deciding clash with Syracuse.

As for Texas, the path is clear: the Longhorns are locked into a third straight SEC title game, this time a rubber match with Georgia. Senior Night looms next weekend against LSU, and while head coach Nash Savage hasn’t committed to how long his starters will play, few expect the Longhorns to take their foot off the gas.

“It’s just the regular season, some may argue — but for Texas, they’re making history,” said Tim Tebow on College GameDay. “They’ve got a Heisman contender trying to finish off one of the greatest seasons we’ve seen. Don’t expect Savage to pull anyone unless they’re up big.”

Image
Juan Ventura's early interception to set up Barry Orlovsky's 2nd touchdown of the 1st half.

Image
Tommy Marshall and A&M had a brief spark in the 3rd quarter, but the QB was quickly bogged down by sacks in the blowout loss.

Image
James Mosely continues to be a game wrecker with a Texas single game record 5 1/2 sacks, pushing his season total to 19 1/2.

Austin, TX. - It may have been Senior Night at DKR Stadium, but redshirt freshman quarterback Emilio Delgado stole the spotlight with 429 passing yards and five touchdowns as No. 1 Texas finished off its second consecutive undefeated regular season in dominant fashion, thumping No. 18 LSU 49-21.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing for the Longhorns early. The Tigers came out swinging, holding Texas scoreless through the first quarter as both teams traded mistakes — including interceptions by Delgado and LSU quarterback Brian McCardell. But once Delgado settled in, the floodgates opened.

The freshman phenom lit up the Tigers’ secondary in the second quarter, going 12-of-16 for 203 yards and three touchdowns before the break. LSU, determined to contain Heisman front-runner Barry Orlovsky, loaded the box and dared Delgado to beat them. He answered the challenge.

Meanwhile, Orlovsky chipped away against the stacked front, managing just 59 yards on 14 carries in the first half. His lone first-half score came in unconventional fashion — a swing pass from Delgado as time expired to give Texas a 21-10 lead at halftime.

The second half was more of the same. Delgado connected with Rico Mama for a 68-yard bomb on the opening possession, then followed it with a 44-yard missile to the junior wideout for his fifth touchdown of the night. LSU showed flashes of fight, including a 56-yard touchdown from McCardell to Nick Komar, but sacks in the red zone — including two critical takedowns by James Mosely — forced the Tigers to settle for field goals that couldn’t keep pace.

By the fourth quarter, the outcome was sealed. Orlovsky powered in two more rushing touchdowns to push his season total to 36, while Mosely notched three sacks to bring his season total up to 22nd and 1/2 sacks, leaving him a mere half sack shy of the Texas single-season record.

But the loudest cheers of the night came after the final whistle. As Orlovsky wrapped up a postgame sideline interview, Longhorns legend Ricky Williams quietly approached before surprising the senior with a handshake and a grin.

“Hate to interrupt the party,” Williams laughed, “but I had to come down here and congratulate my man.”

Williams then presented Orlovsky with a commemorative plaque honoring his achievement. With 2,151 rushing yards on the season, Orlovsky has officially surpassed Williams’ 1998 Texas single-season rushing record of 2,124 yards — a mark that stood for nearly 40 years.

“Just to even be mentioned with a guy like Ricky… I can’t really put it into words,” said Orlovsky. “This is something I’ll tell my grandkids about.”

With the SEC and CFP still ahead, Orlovsky has a real shot at Daryl Pope’s NCAA single-season rushing touchdown record of 40, set the Ball State alums 2032 Heisman campaign. Breaking Pope’s single-season rushing yardage record (2,937) would require nearly 800 yards over the next four games — a tall order even for Texas’ workhorse.

The Longhorns (12-0) now turn their attention to a two-week prep for a highly anticipated rubber match with Georgia in the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta.

In the Big Ten, Ball State kept their title hopes alive with a 37-14 win over Michigan State. A showdown with Syracuse next week will determine who claims the Big Ten East and a spot in the conference championship game.
