Patriots dominate Falcons in all facets to win home opener
Cooper Kupp caught his first touchdown as a New England Patriot, as did rookie Xavier Restrepo, as a short-handed New England team bounced back after a shaky defensive performance in Miami to blanket the Atlanta Falcons offense in a 19-3 victory over the Dirty Birds.

It was a nightmarish second start for Michael Penix Jr, who is still without a touchdown two weeks into the season. Penix was sacked four times, including for a safety in the fourth quarter, and completed just 46 percent of his passes for 142 yards with completions to just three receivers -- Drake London, Kyle Pitts and Darnell Mooney -- along with Bijan Robinson who caught four passes.

Meanwhile, fellow 2024 draft pick Drake Maye completed passes to eleven different receiver with top target Kupp catching eight passes for 86 yards. Rookie receiver Barion Brown seemed poise for a a big game with two catches for thirty yards in the first drive but would leave the game with an injury.

Brown joins a growing list of injured Patriots as they were without top interior defensive lineman Christian Barmore, top edge rusher Chase Young, starting left tackle Will Campbell and starting center Drew Dalman.

Despite the banged up offensive line, New England still rushed for 217 yards behind the two-headed monster of Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson who both rushed for over 80 yards as well as Drake Maye's 56 yards rushing.

A dominant win in Baltimore as the Patriots blowout the Ravens
Lamar Jackson had all day to throw. The only problem? No one was rushing him. Jerod Mayo and defensive coordinator DeMarcus Covington deployed an intriguing gameplan against the Baltimore Ravens, opting to contain Jackson in the pocket and dedicate multiple spy defenders on him while playing man coverage on the outside, trusting its corners on an island.

The Ravens offense never figured it out with Jackson throwing two interceptions and fumbling the ball on a designed quarterback run in the red zone as the Ravens failed to reach in the endzone in a surprising 36-6 blowout loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday.

It was counterpart Drake Maye that did damage with his legs, rushing for 66 yards, all on scrambles, including a 12-yard third down conversion to begin the second half. Later in that drive, leading 13-6, Maye would use his legs to convert a fourth and two to get the ball down to the five-yard line while Kyle Monangai would punch it in to begin the rout.

Maye completed 66 percent of his passes for 188 yards and three touchdowns with no turnovers. Cooper Kupp scored a touchdown in his second consecutive game as did Xavier Restrepo with Javon Baker taking advantage of his new found opportunities with the injury to Barion Brown. Baker got behind the defense early in the game for a 46-yard gain and then caught an impressive slant route for a touchdown a few plays later for the first touchdown of the game.

Patriots first round pick Will Campbell made his debut after being out with an injury and impressed, not surrendering a single pressure.
