Steelers Re-Sign Defensive Cogs JP2 & Queen

Pittsburgh, PA. - The Pittsburgh Steelers locked down two key defensive cornerstones on Wednesday, announcing multi-year extensions for cornerback Joey Porter Jr. and linebacker Patrick Queen—two vital pieces of one of the NFL’s top defensive units this season.
Porter Jr., now in his fourth season out of Penn State, took to Instagram shortly after the deal went public:
“Nowhere else I’d rather be! #FamilyBusiness,” he posted.
The son of Steelers legend Joey Porter Sr., the younger Porter has emerged as a steady presence opposite Jalen Ramsey, forming one of the league’s most formidable cornerback duos. After missing time early in the year on injured reserve, Porter quickly reminded fans of his impact—registering both an interception and a forced fumble in his return.
“He’s a prototype man-coverage corner,” said one AFC scout. “Having him and Ramsey on opposite sides gives offenses nightmares.”
Porter’s new deal is reportedly worth three years and $43.5 million.
Meanwhile, Patrick Queen—the former Ravens standout—also secured his long-term future in Pittsburgh, signing a three-year, $45 million extension. Queen originally joined the Steelers in 2024 and has since provided the consistent, three-down stability the team had long sought at inside linebacker following the injury to Ryan Shazier years ago.
“It would be foolhardy to let Queen walk now,” said GM Omar Khan. “We’ve struggled in the past without a dependable leader in the middle, and over the last three years, it’s clear Patrick has been the guy setting the tone for this defense.”
The two signings address the Steelers’ most significant pending free agents heading into the offseason. Even with both deals finalized, Pittsburgh is still projected to carry roughly $69 million in cap space, giving Khan plenty of flexibility to continue building around one of the league’s most balanced rosters.
