Tough win over Clemson despite the turnovers.
Please beat Ohio State.
Sounds like you could be facing some pretty serious roster turnover this offseason, that’s half the fun though!
No love for the Buckeyes? I feel they they are a team that people either love or love to hate.

8 Starters on Defense, and Hooks, Crum/Boykins/Fry at RB. and Harmon and Kramer at WR so yeah lots of new faces next year.. With back to back #2 Overall Recruiting classes the talent is there to continue to win games but that's if they all stay. Deal Breakers in this game are still broken at times so we will see.

4TH QUARTER COMEBACK PROPELS BRONCOS TO VICTORY!!!

GAME RECAP

Boise State opened up the game with a nice 38 yd pass to push the ball past midfield but the Buckeyes #1 Defense (giving up just 19.6 PPG) would force a punt in which RS FR Rickie Walters would lay down at the 1 yd line and 2 plays later SR DT Adrian Incognito would sack Buckeye QB CJ McKoy (89 ovr) in the endzone for a safety to give the Broncos the 2pt lead.

Boise State would add to that lead though as Cam Hooks throws a pair of touchdowns to Kyle Harmon as BSU takes the early (16-7). After both teams traded FG's making it (19-10) Boise State would add to their lead as Hooks finds SO WR Eric Zentner on a 28 yd score to make it (26-10) with 6 minutes to play in the half.. The Buckeyes would battle back though as McCoy first finds SR WR Nick Maybin (97 ovr) for a 19 yd strike to cut the lead to (23-17) and then with 34 seconds to play in the half McCoy throws his 3rd touchdown of the game as SR WR Antonio Stephen (89 ovr) snags a 28 yd score over 2 Bronco Defender's. as the Buckeyes battle back to make it (26-24) at the half.

Ohio Sate would open up the 2nd half with the ball and turn to SR RB Emmett Sloman (93 Ovr) who would lead the charge with 8 carries on a 13 play drive ending with a 2 yd touchdown run to give Ohio State the (31-26) lead.

Boise State would look to follow suit as Crum looks to take over the game with back to back 1st down runs including his longest run of the day (31 yds) but facing a 4th and 6 the Broncos are forced to settle for a 37 yd FG by Cedric Eagles and found themselves trailing as we head to the 4th with the Buckeyes up (31-29).

Sticking with the ground game Crum would deliver a big blow as he breaks free for a 12 yd touchdown to open up the 4th Quarter scoring as Boise State retakes the lead (36-31) . Both teams would trade a pair of punts as Ohio State takes back over with under 5 minutes to play in the game but SLoman would break free for his 2nd rushing touchdown as he goes 52 yds to the house as Ohio State retakes the lead making it (38-36).

The next 4 minutes was a slug fest as Coach Miller did his best using Crum and Boykins to take valuable time off the clock and it worked as BSU forces Ohio State to use all 3 timeouts before Crum delivers the knockout punch with a 5 yd score as Boise State retakes the lead (43-38) with under a minute to play.

Despite no timeouts, Miller knew this game was far from over as OSU would have to go 80 yds in 49 seconds, but 30 yd pass to SR Jarrod Gallimore made it 50 yds in 38.. With the clock still running Ohio State would hurry to the line but McCoy's pass is knocked down as he try's to go back to the well targeting Gallimore down the sideline. Playing in their 4-2-5 Defense BSU gave McCoy the middle of the field and he took it throwing a 22 yd strike to TE Tavarres Winston (86 ovr).. A spiked ball would stop the clock with 26 seconds. Back to back incomplete pass's would set up 4th and 10 with 18 seconds to play but McCoy intended pass to Antonio Stephen is broken up as BSU takes over on downs just 1 kneel down away from their 3rd National title.
FINA SCORE BOISE STATE--43 OHIO STATE-38
For Cam Hooks it was the storybook ending the TCU transfer was looking for. For Brian Crum it was a perfect ending to a 3 year career that saw him become one of the greatest Bronco RB's to play on the Blue, as both players will see each other next year on opposite sidelines on Sundays.

For RB's JerMarcus Boykins and Tyler Fry and DT Callum Johnson it was legendary as the Trio became the only Broncos to have played on all 3 National Championship squads.. **(The rest of the SR class is made up of transfers or recruits that were not part of the 2028 team that won the Broncos first title)**

This was a great year in the playoffs. Lots of good games. I lose alot of starters on Defense minus 1 LB and my 2 CB's so it will be interesting to see the new D-line. My 2 DE's are both former 5* guys so i am excited to see how they do.. I lose a ton of depth at RB but Waller and Stock are both former 5* guy's who I think can carry the load, I just need to try and land some depth in the Portal, if not I got a Gadget WR who could be a decent replacement for Boykins.. My O-Line is back and Barksdale looks like he should be pretty good, so if the Defense can produce anything like they did last year, I feel like my Pac-12 run and Playoff run will continue.

END OF YEAR RECAP

MILLER BLEEDS BLUE
Coming off his 3rd National title in the past 5 years, Coach Matt Miller had no shortages of offers to leave Boise

Penn State looking to replace Curt Cignetti (retired) called, so did USC (Barry Odom fired) as well as Oklahoma State (Kalani Sitake took the USC job) South Carolina (Tevin Swope left for Syracuse) as well as Iowa (not sure what happened to their HC)

In the end both Miller and OC Marcus Arroyo both stayed put (Arroyo was being looked at by several schools during a sim but I spent EXP points that helped me retain coordinators and it worked)

Penn State ends up hiring the Ohio State DC (Myles Gladden), and Danning Lanning somehow replaces him with the UConn HC (Sidney State). Barry Odom lands at Baylor and well South Carolina hires the Wake Forest HC and Iowa ends up with Ole Miss OC Charlie Weis Jr. Oklahoma State hired the LSU DC Blake Baker.

*Also former Washington/Alabama HC Kalen Deboer left Tulane for Arkansas.

SUNDAY BOUND
Cam Hooks (95 ovr) and Brian Crum (99 Ovr) go early in the 1st Round

Hooks coming off a season that saw him throw for 5680 yds with 48 TD and 13 INT improved his draft stock from a 6th round projection to a 1st Round

Crum leaves BSU after 3 seasons in which he produced 967 carries for 4733 yds (4.9 ag) and 64 TD’s including back to back seasons with 1700+ yds and 22 TD’s.

Both players are joined by Seniors JerMarus Boykins (5th round).. Boykins leaves BSU with 573 carries for 2787 yds and 30 TD’s (Rushing), 241 rec for 2256 yds and 26 TD’s (Receiving) as well as 89 KR for 2132 yds and 1 TD as well as 40 PR for 427 yds

BSU SAYS GOODBYE

RB/FB Tyler Fy (83 ovr)-513 rushing yards, 21 TD (Career)
FB/TE Tobias Teague (76 ovr)

DE Zaire Trainer (82 ovr) 32 tackles 4 TFL 1 Sack (transfer from Washington)
OLB Robert Capps (84 ovr)-44 Tackles 16 TFL 11.5 sacks (this year)

BIG SHOES TO FILL
All together BSU must replace 2700 rushing yards and 33 TD’s from this year.3400 and 34 TD receiving and a Defense that produced 110 TFL and 55 Sacks, and 7 INT.

*For the first time in a season that I can remember I had 4 players finish with double digit sacks Rossi and Capps both had 11.5 and Incongnito and Johnson each had 10.5) well OLB P. Higdon led all defenders with 141 tackles.

MILLER CONVINCES TOP PORTAL TARGETS TO STAY PUT

Boise State had a trio of former 5* Recruits as top Portal targets as QB Tobias Barksdale, RB Drew Waller and WR Enrique Chance all considered leaving Boise but at the end of the day, all 3 agreed to stay put as all 3 are projected starters next season.

With Barksdale back in the fold, Boise State did lose out on RS JR Tyrone Waddle. The former 3* Recruit has spend time at both QB and WR during his career at BSU, but now will look for more PT in his final season... With Waddle gone and Barksdale projected at QB1, Coach Miller lucked out when former Oklahoma transfer Kyle Gowiin agreed to stay.. Gowan completed 13/18 pass's las season (72%) throwing for 163 yds with 1 TD and 1 INT

Waller appeared in 9 games last season after redshirting in 2031, and carried the ball 57 times for 247 yds (4.3 avg) well scoring 6 touchdowns

Chance appeared in 2 games last year and recorded 5 catches for 88 yds and 1 TD. He is projected as the teams #3 WR next season and at 6'5 could be the perfect replacement for Kyle Harmon who just put up 100+ rec 1700+ and double digits TD's last season.

PLENTY OF SCHOLARSHIPS TO GO AROUND

With 18 Seniors, 2 early NFL entries and 1 player lost to the Portal, Coach Miller will go into the off-season with 22 scholarships to hand out as Boise State has landed just 3 players during the early recruiting process. (5* DE Tye Hoppes, 4* WR Calvin Wells and 3* MLB Rodney Burr)

With just 9 players left on the Top-25 Big Board, of High School Recruits, Boise State is expected to be very busy with the transfer portal as Coach Miller looks to add a 3rd QB,, depth at RB and both O and D Line as well well as Linebacker and Safetey.

after a trio of Natty's time for a new group to carry the mantle :yep:

Always fun when you have a bunch of young guys you've got to rotate through to see who stands out - GL adding some key pieces in the portal

I am pretty excited for the youth I have.. I always feel bad for not finding ways to get my backups more involved but now they are not backups any longer.

Yeah Overall I am pretty happy with the Class.. It's not as highly rated as past class's but we got some solid pieces coming in but with back to back #2 Overall class's it's time for those guy's to shine and for these incoming guy's to fill the missing pieces to the puzzle.

BOISE STATE LOOKS TO BUILD FOR THE FUTURE

With just 3 early singings, Coach Miller the Broncos Coaching Staff were busy this off-season signing 19 players over the past 4 weeks including 7 players from the Transfer Portal ranked #16 Overall) and 12 more high school recruits as Boise State finishes with the #15 Overall Ranked Class in the nation signing 22 players (2-5*,10-4*,4-3*).

With just 2 QB's scheduled to return, Coach Miller got lucky in the off-season as he flips 5* QB Ezra Neighbors (#4 Overall/#1 SC/#2 QB). Listed at 6'3 182lbs from Moncks Corner South Carolina, Neighbors appeared to be a lock for UNC but after showing concerns about Playing time but a last minute flip in Week 4, and Neighbors officially became the highest rated recruit in the 2032 class for the Broncos.

Besides landing Neighbors, the Broncos also came away with another QB signing as RS Freshman Nathan Exum (#119 Overall/#17 TX/#20 QB) a former 4* who played last season at UAB..

Coach Miller
"We were extremely shocked when we got the news from Ezra.. We targeted him early in the season but with Barksdale on the roster, he had pretty much said we were out of the running but we stayed in his Top-3 all season despite never getting the change to bring him to Boise.. Then in Week 3 of the off-season he finally excepted a trip out and I explained to him the situation. We don't ever just hand someone a starting job.. You earn it here in Boise and well Barksdale has a set up having already been here for a year and having played 2 games it doesn't mean he can't come in here and compete,, but that means he has to have "Black Mamba mentality" and show up and not just put in the regular work but the extra work to push TB and the rest of the QB room. Nathan Exum wasn't just brought in to be depth and a backup. We were excited with what he did at UAB last year and brings a different style of play then any of the other 3 QB's (6'4 Pocket Passer)"
Like QB, the Broncos went into the final week of the recruiting season with just 2 RB's in former 5* Drew Waller and and Greg Stock, but the RB room got restocked with instant talent and future talent, as Coach Miller landed a pair of 4* Transfers out of the Portal and flipped 4* Addison Daniels (Rated #131 Overall/#18 FL/#13 RB) who appeared locked on to Penn State.

RS JR Brian Myers (#26 Ovr/#1 OR/#8 RB) has started the last 3 seasons at Arizona State well RS FR Desean Swaim (#22 Ovr/#1 NC/#7 RB) spent most of last season as RB1 for UNC.

Coach Miller
"With our Top-3 RB's graduating we had probably 20 RB's contact us about potentially joining the roster. We knew we wanted to add 2 guy's with some experience and we can't be happier then with who we got. Both Myers and Swaim fit perfectly into our run game and will be amazing additions to the team and push Drew for that RB1 role"

Miller wasn't done with the Offense yet as he looked to replace over 2000 yds and 20+ TD in the WR room in Harmon/Kramer.

Well several of the Broncos top transfer targets signed else where, Miller did come away with 4* Felix Donahue (#37 Ovr/#1 WI/#12 WR) a 6'3 193lbs RS FR who played last season at Wisconsin and added 4* Tye Shelley (#211 Overall/#32 WR who was the New Mexico Gatorade POY (#1 NM) a 6'6 195lb clone of Kyle Harmon.

Well BSU did strike out in landing any of the Top-rated O-Lineman in the portal this season, BSU has all 5 starters returning so Miler turned to overlooked 3* high school recruits who could grow into a starting job in a couple of years. landing a trio of Tackles

6'5 280lbs Emmanuel Newaneri (#500/#3OK/#30 OT)
6'5 297lbs Eric Goodley (#722/#10CO/#49 OT)
6'5 304lbs Gio Chartlon #1226/#21 UT/#67 OT)

With all 4 starters graduating from the D-Line, Miller and the staff brough in some much needed dept signing 3* DE Ty Calloway (Boston College and 3* DT Clarence Britt (Rutgers) as well has 4* DE Tavarie Roth (#264 Ovr/#8 IL/27 DE) and 3* DT Gideon Ragnow (#5110/#9/#30DT).

Already with 5* Tye Hoppes (#5 Overall/#1 CA/#1 OLB) signed and appearing like a Day 1 starter, Miller added to the depth chart signing 3* Bo Jansen a RS FR who spent last season at Missouri.

Despite having his Top-5 CB's returning Miller did skip on the chance of adding some depth signing 3* CB Owen Bryant (#695 Ovr/#20SC/#55 CB) after scouts fell in love with his game film (Green Star).

The Broncos also added 3* FS Vernon Bausby and 3* SS Wes Cantwell..

Depsite having Lou Groza Award winner Cedric Eagles returning for his Senior season, BSU went ahead and signed his future replacement in 3* Nick Mateo #6 PK in the class.
