Turnovers and missed opportunities hamper Patriots in home opener against Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks had only six more yards of total offense than the New England Patriots with New England besting them on third down conversion rate, rushing yards and time of possession. Yet, the final score wasn't close as the Patriots turned it over three times and had to settle for field goals on all of their red zone appearances in the 31-12 loss to the Seahawks in the home opener.

It was a tough outing for Jacoby Brissett, who completed just 48 percent of his passes and had a back breaking interception that was returned for Seattle's first touchdown of the game and handed them the lead. The Seahawks never looked back, seizing on Rhamondre Stevenson's second fumble of the game and scoring on the very next play on a 21-yard touchdown from Geno Smith to Noah Fant.

Smith was an efficient 20 of 31 for 233 yards and two scores. Kenneth Walker rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown while star receiver D.K. Metcalf was embroiled in a contested matchup against second-year cornerback Christian Gonzalez. Metcalf finished with two catches for 30 yards, catching only one pass for nine yards when covered by Gonzalez.
