Jets fall to Redskins 35-17 in preseason battle
August 19, 2006 | Jets Camp Insider
LANDOVER, Md. -- Week two of the preseason did not go as well for the Jets as week one, as the Redskins cruised past New York 35-17.
"Last week, we used the rain as an excuse for the lackluster offense" said Jets coach, Eric Mangini. "We can't say the same this week."
It was another flat performance for the Jets offense, which has been led by Chad Pennington.
"We're doing well protecting the ball, but we need to push the ball down the field more. I need to be better," said the veteran signal-caller.
Santana Moss and Brandon Lloyd played extended minutes in this one, helping Washington's second-half offense outburst, ultimately giving the Redskins the win.
The Jets face off with state rival, the New York Giants, in next week's preseason tilt.

Pennington's statline doesn't look too bad. Might be playing a smidge too conservative though.
