Super-Maye strikes again as he reaches forty passing touchdowns in win over Buffalo
Cooper Kupp's return was a loud one, catching a 65-yard Hail Mary to end the first half and retake a lead that the New England Patriots never surrendered against the Buffalo Bills, taking hold of the AFC East with a 35-10 victory.

Drake Maye bounced back from his strip sack that resulted in a touchdown just a few plays prior by rushing for 20-yards with 23 seconds left in the half to get the ball to the 35-yard line where Kupp, returning from injury, was able to leap over Rasul Douglas for the sixty-five yard catch and run touchdown.

Buffalo never recovered from that emotional let down, failing to score in the second half in a game where the Bills offense never reached the endzone. Josh Allen was completely neutralized by New England's unique defensive scheme, playing most of the game with only one true linebacker and six defensive backs. Allen finished the day 15 of 25 for 159 yards with two interceptions across the middle to Marte Mapu and Jahlani Tavai.

While Allen struggled, Maye flourished with him needing to carry most of the offensive load following Rhamondre Stevenson's injury in the second quarter. Maye rushed for 94 yards with a touchdown and threw for 339 yards and three touchdowns, bringing his season total to 40 passing touchdowns.

Kyle Mongangai was able to come in and helped finish the game off, rushing for a career high 127 yards to help run out the clock.

Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson likely to miss remainder of regular season with torn abdomen
New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye will get his chance to make his case for MVP as the AFC East leaders will be without running back Rhamondre Stevenson for the foreseeable future after tearing his abdomen in the Patriots win over the Buffalo Bills.

Stevenson, 27, joins Antonio Gibson on the injury report, leaving the Patriots void of experienced talent in the running back room. In many aspects, Stevenson was having a career year with a career high 5.9 yards per carry and was fifth in the NFL in rushing.

There is hope for Stevenson to return in the playoffs for the Patriots, who clinched a playoff spot for the first time since 2021. They can clinch the AFC East with a win this week against the Steelers, something they haven't done since Tom Brady's departure in 2019. The team signed running back JaMycal Hasty to their active roster and demoted guard Marcus Tate to their practice squad. Hasty spent the 2024 season with the Patriots.

Maye, who is third in MVP odds, will likely shoulder a heavier load in the running game with the loss of Stevenson, compounded by Gibson being on IR. As it stands, Maye leads all running backs with 858 rushing yards and is on pace to become the first non-African American quarterback to rush for over 1,000-yards in a season, joining Michael Vick, Lamar Jackson and Justin Fields.
