With his 300+ yd performance against the Bulldogs RS Freshman Tobias Barksdale finishes the regular season with 3055 yds with 28 TD and 9 INT despite playing in just 8 games.
Redshirt Sophomore and UAB transfer Nate "The Great" Exum added to his totals appearing in this 6th game this season finishing with 1408 yds with 14 TD and 0 INT's.
5* Recruit Ezra Neighbors filled in during Barksdale's injury playing in 4 games throwing for 633 yds with 6 TD and 5 INT.
GROUND ATTACK
Despite playing in just 1 Quarter against the Bulldogs, Redshirt Sophomore Desean Swaim still managed to get to 100 yds and finish the regular season with 1759 yds on 325 carries (5.4 avg) scoring 26 TD's. He appeared in all 12 games and averaged 146.6 yds per game with 13 runs over 20+ yds including his 78 yd touchdown in the 4th Qurater.
Redshirt Sophomore Angel Coker was a huge addition to the RB room this season replacing JeMarcus Boykins as the Broncos change of pace/3rd Down back and receiving threat. Coker had 128 carries for 808 yds (6.3 avg) and 12 TD's Coker also finished with 470 yds and 4 TD's through the air and produced 921 returns yards with 2 TD's giving leaving him just 1 yd shiy of a 2000 yard All-purpose season with 18 TD's.
Arizona State transfer SR Brian Myers is very likely the best #3 RB in the nation. With Myers breakout 30+ 200 yd and 5 TD performance against the Bulldogs, Myers finished the regular season tied with Coker for 128 carries and touchdowns (12) finishing with 612 yds (4.8 avg).. Like Coker he was also huge in the return game leading the team with 17 Kick returns with 412 yds (24.2 avg) giving him over 1000 All-purpose yards.
AIR ATTACK
Redshirt Freshman Enrique Chance hit the 1000 yd mark against the Bulldogs finishing the regular season with 97 rec for 1068 yds and a team high 18 TD's.
Senior TE Larry Ika's huge Senior night has pushed him within striking distance of joining Chance in the 1000 yd club. Ika now has 949 yds on 56 receptions well catching 10 toucdowns. He actually leads the team in yards per catch with (16.9)
Redshirt Sophomore Taj Carr also put together a strong season and like Ika is close to joining the 1000 yd club. Carr has 66 rec for 907 yds and 6 TD.
JR Eric Zentner for the first time in his career will not likely no hit the 1000 yd club.. Breakout years by Chance/Ika/Carr as well as the run game limited "Z" to career lows 49 rec for 666 yds and 5 TD but with the Pac-12 title game plus the playoffs, "Z" still has a chance.
Despite being limited to just 22 receptions, backup TE Steven Strong has made a strong impression on Bronco fans and the coaching staff showing he is ready and capable of so much more. Strong finished with 320 yds (14.5 avg) and tied Zentner with 5 TD's.
Wisconsin transfer RS SO Felix Donahue slid down the depth chart but still managed to produce 324 yds on 25 recetioins (13.0 avg)
SAYING GOODBYE
The Broncos will say goodbye to a all-Senior O-line at the end of the season, injuries to LG Dashwan Moffett (676 snaps) and RT Johnathan Daniels (686 snaps) led to former Washington transfer JR Quinn Punga (1027 snaps) acting like a 6th starter...
NO FLYZONE
With 3 more INT"s against the the Bulldogs, Boise State finishes the regular season with a school record 23 INT's.. Former Iowa transfer Quincy Forrest leads the team with 7. after finishing with 4 last year.
JR Roland Finley currently has 5 matching his total as a True Freshman well RS SO Barry Stack has 3 despite missing 4 games win injuries
SS T. Tubbs, FS M. Moreau and CB A. Killebrew all each have 2 well OLB Tye Hoppes and M. Darnold each have 1.
PASS RUSH MIA
After having 4 players finish with double digit sacks last season the Boise State ha struggled with 4 new starters on the D-Line. BSU as a team has recorded just 20 sacks this season. SR Aman Ohalete leads the team with 7.5 which includes 2.5 sacks and the safety he had against Fresno State.
RS SO DT Damien Kern is 2nd on the team with 4.5, well former 5* DE N. Parker has recorded just 1..5 and only 5 TFL all season.
CEDRIC EAGLES
SR PK Cedric Eagles had a breakout season in 2031 connecting on 21/28 FG's (75%) but improved on those #'s in 2032 finishing 37/42 (88) well also connecting on a perfect 98/98 XPT on his way to winning the Lou Groza Award. However this season Eagles has struggled connecting on 14/22 (63%) including just 1/7 on kicks of 50+ after going 4/6 last year.. Eagles has been pretty automatic on XPT though connecting on 98/99 with his only miss being blocked kick.
RECRUITING UPDATE
For the first time in his career Coach Matt Miller actually had some early success during in-season recruiting taking advantage of multiple home games before Week 10, however since Week 10 things have slowed down.
BSU did add 3* QB/ATH Kyle Mast (#1674/#153 CA) this past week after the Fresno State game. Mast listed at 6/2 218lbs from Pacific Palisades CA is a multiple position Athlete who could see time at QB depending on the decisions of current #3 Ezra Neighbors.
BSU however lost out on several key O-LIne recruits this week which could be a major setback in seasons to come.
4* RT Tony Torrez (#111 Overall/#2MI/#10 OT) has decided to stay home and signed with Michigan
4* OG Greg Judge (#88 Overall/#2 OK/#6 OG) is doing the same and will be a Oklahoma Sooner.
Nebraska has become a top recruiting rival for Boise State on Midwest recruits but this time the Cornhusker ventured out west and stole another away from the Broncos as 4* MLB Manu Crum (#183 Overall/#5 AZ/#26 LB) from Scottsdale Arizona has declared after his Week 12 visit to Boise.
NFL DRAFT AND PORTAL RUMORS
Boise State is no stranger to players leaving early for the NLF after QB Cam Hooks and RB Brian Crum both declared early becoming 1st Round Picks
Reports are several Broncos are being targeted again tis year including RB's Desean Swaim and Angel Coker as well as WR's Eric Zentner and Taj Carr.
All 4 players are projected as late 1st and early 2nd Round picks.
5* QB Ezra Neighbors eyeing schools with more PT potential. Reports are Ezra Neighbors time in Boise could be short lived. Neighbors was a late addition to the class last season as most assumed he would sign with UNC. Neighbors however signed with BSU and appeared in 4 games with Tobias Barksdale sidelined . He came in relief of Barksdale against Oregon State and led the Broncos to a victory completing 5/8 pass's and rushing for the game winning touchdown.. Then a week later in a start against Nevada he threw for 261 yds with 5 TD and 1 INT But struggles against UCLA (138 yds 3 INT led to UAB transfer Nate Exum jumping him on the depth chart as the team's #2.
