Pittsburgh Panthers rally to defeat Miami Hurricanes 24-17
In a thrilling comeback, the Pittsburgh Panthers overcame a late deficit to defeat the Miami Hurricanes 24-17. The Hurricanes held a 17-10 lead with just six minutes remaining, but a series of critical plays turned the tide in favor of Pittsburgh.
Miami’s quarterback, Emory Williams, faced relentless pressure from the Panthers’ defense. On back-to-back plays at the Pittsburgh 39-yard line, Williams was sacked, fumbling on the second sack. This turnover proved costly for the Hurricanes, who struggled with their offensive line throughout the game, accumulating seven penalties, including two that negated touchdowns.
Capitalizing on the fumble recovery, Pittsburgh’s quarterback Eli Holstein orchestrated a game-tying drive, culminating in a scramble for a touchdown. The Hurricanes’ woes continued as penalties forced them to punt on their next possession. Holstein seized the opportunity, connecting with Desmond Reid for a spectacular 66-yard touchdown pass, putting the Panthers ahead 24-17.
Miami did show signs of life on their final possession with a 21-yard completion to Joshisa Trader and a pass interference penalty advanced the ball to the 15-yard line. However, their hopes were dashed when Williams was intercepted by Braylan Lovelace, sealing the victory for Pittsburgh.
