Owls sign another small class on Early National Signing Day as Paul Gado, Marquez Faulk become latest signees
Keke Hagg
Dec 10, 2026, 11:05 AM ET
KENNESAW, Ga. -- The Kennesaw State Owls have signed four players during the Early Signing Period, bringing in the smallest class of the Conference USA, thirteen shy of Liberty's seventeen man class which leads the conference.
The Owls do have the second highest amount of three-stars in the conference, however, with three, trailing only Western Kentucky who signed seven such prospects. The Owls added to their class during the signing period by receiving commitments from linebacker Paul Gado and running back Marquez Faulk.
Faulk is an interesting prospect that could come in right away and raise the ceiling of Kennesaw State's running back room. The Owls, as it currently stands, are set to return their top two running backs from last season in Kyshon Franklin Jr. and D.J. Scott but with the transfer portal, and depending how it pans out, Faulk could be a potential day-one contributor. Despite being listed at five-foot-eight and 187 pounds, Faulk is a physical runner that seeks contact and has plenty of burst despite not having elite top end speed.
Gado could also see early playing time with the graduation of Donelius Johnson and depending on how the rest of the linebacker room shakes out.

Kennesaw State head coach Bubba Mack focused on bowl game;
discusses rumored Tulane job offer
By Lamar O'Neal
December 5, 2026
With success comes speculation about future jobs in today’s age of college football. Kennesaw State was one of the worst programs in college football when head coach Bubba Mack took over the program in just its second season in the FBS. They made it to a bowl game in Mack's first season and won nine games in route to an appearance in the Conference USA Championship Game in just his second season at the helm.
The Tulane Green Wave football team is highly aware of that reality in recent seasons, having to replace former head coaches Willie Fritz and Jon Sumrall in the last five seasons as they've left for other jobs. Tulane is now back on the market with Mack viewed as one of the top candidates.
Mack addresses those rumors during The Cure Bowl Media Day on Monday:
“I actually had a very transparent conversation with our team about this,” Mack said. “I'm the head coach of Kennesaw State and that's where I'm at right now. I understand things change but I'm focused on winning our first bowl game and then we can discuss everything else after that. I ask [the players] to not worry about the transfer portal and where they're going to be playing next year until the clock hits zero on our game this Friday so I'm holding myself to the same standard."
Mack said there's been 'open communication' between himself, his agent and the athletic department on his future with the program and that he wishes to stay at Kennesaw State while being clear that nothing is set in stone. The Georgia Tech job is an interesting opening but Liberty head coach James Chadwell remains the favorite for that job which could make things intriguing. Could Liberty, in an effort to remain atop to the conference, extend an offer to Mack if Chadwell does leave?
Chadwell has also interviewed with Virginia Tech.

Never a good sign when the coach says “that’s where I am right now” he’s looking to move.
